EDWARDS, Lee Ergie, 70, of Pittsburgh, Pa., formerly of Franklin County, died Wednesday, June 19, 1996. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Virginia Edwards, of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Hawthorne, Pitt sburgh, Ms. Jeanette Edwards, Pa.; four sons, Ronnie, John Daniel, Duconze Edwards, all of Rocky Mount, Ricky Edwards, Pittsburgh, Pa.; one stepson, Bennie Mattox, Rocky Mount; three sisters, Mrs. Fannie Preston, Rocky Mount, Mrs. Rachel Mattox, Richmond, Mrs. Valether Weaver, Lafayette, Ca.; four brothers, Dewell Edwards, Capitol Heights Md., Elbert Edwards, Union Hall, Joseph Edwards, Rocky Mount, Benjamin Edwards, El-Cerrito, Ca.; sixteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday 1 p.m. at Stanfield Mortuary Chapel with Elder Michael Preston officiating. The family will receive friends at the chapel on Monday 7 to 8 p.m. Interment in the Edwards Family Cemetery.

GEARHART, Raymond, 69, of Virginia Beach, Va., died Thursday, June 20, 1996. Funeral services 12 noon Tuesday June 25, 1996 at Lotz Salem Chapel.

HOWERY, Glenna Mae, 86, of Christiansburg, died Friday afternoon, June 21, 1996 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. today from the Cambria Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Shepherd with burial in Sunset cemetery. The body is at the church. Arrangements being handled by Richardson-Horne.

JOHNSTON, Annie Marcell, 78, of the Trigg Community, died Sunday morning, June 23, 1996 in Radford Community Hospital, Radford, Va. Born in Pulaski Co., on October 28, 1917 she was a daughter of the late William D. and Dessie Mae Price Akers. She was the wife of the late William Roscoe Johnston and was a member of Wesleys Chapel United Methodist Church at Trigg. Surviving are one son, Charles Johnston of Hillsville, Va.; two daughters, Lois Sutherland and Audrey Jennelle, both of Radford, Va.; five grandchildren, Yvette Ryan, Rusty Johnston, Jennifer Sutherland, Jann Jennelle, and Steven Jennelle; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charlie Akers of Radford and Fred Akers of Belspring. Through the years she became a special mother to many foster children the last of which was Gary Myers. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday June 25, 1996 at Wesleys Chapel United Methodist Church in Trigg with the Rev. Warren Wattenburger, Pastor of Central United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Wesleys Chapel Cemetery in Trigg. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow Street, Pembroke, Va. on Monday evening from six until eight p.m.

MITCHELL, William Edgar, 88, of Bedford, passed away Sunday, June 23, 1996. Arrangements by Updike Funeral Home.

MITCHELL, William Edgar Mitchell, 88, of Bedford, passed away Sunday, June 23,1996 in the Camelot Hall Nursing Home. He was born December 20,1907 in Bedford County, a son of the late John E. Mitchell and Ellis McGhee Mitchell. He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank S. Mitchell and a sister, Eunice M. Johnson. He was a retired farmer, an Army veteran of World War 11 and was a member of E phesus United Methodist Church. He is survived by nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted Monday, June 24,1996 at 4 p.m. from the Ephesus United Methodist Church Cemetery, by the Rev. Dr. Patrick Simon and Rev. Wayne Murphy. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home, Bedford.

MONK, Carson Everett, 87, of Narrows, Va., died Sunday morning, June 23, 1996 in the Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg, Va. He was born in Russell County on August 6, 1908 and was the son of the late Stewart and Lula Lovell Monk, he was a retired custodian at the Narrows High School, having retired after 25 year service. He is survived by his wife, Bertha V. Monk of Narrows, Va.; a daughter and her husband, Phillis and Burl Cloninger, Knoxville, Tn.; a son and his wife, Charlie and Frances Monk of Narrows, Va..; two sisters, Sadia Sutherland, Clintwood, Va., Hazel Tignor, Lebanon, Va.; a brother, Carl Monk of Greenville, Tn.; two grandchildren, Cheryl A. Richey, Knoxville, Tn., Scottie W. Cloninger, Sweetwater, Tn. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Riffe's Funeral Services in Narrows. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows, Va. The family will gather with their friends at Riffe's in Narrows Monday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

OLD, Lelia G., 89, of Salem, died Sunday, June 23, 1996. Arrangements by Lotz Salem Chapel.

PARKER, Francis, (``Ace""), 74, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord Saturday, June 22, 1996. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Margaret Parker; brother, Ace Parker; and sisters, Terry Parker and Marion Vondette. Mr. Parker served in the Navy during WW II and was a district sales manager with Lawson Products for 24 years. He was a member of Bonsack Baptist Church; Williamson Road Masonic Lodge #163 A.F. & A. M., Royal Arch Mason Chapter 31, Scottish Rite, Kazim Temple, and Roanoke Valley Shrine Club. Surviving are his wife, Diane B. Parker; sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce F. and Carol Parker, Todd J. and Reneta Parker, Eric D. and Karen Stamps; daughters and sons-in-law, Tracey L. and Jim Zadell, Melinda S. and Jeff Richardson; sisters, Doris Cole and Rita Evans, both of Vermont; father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Lela Bailey; a special sister-in-law, Gloria McAllister; also ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Bonsack Baptist Church 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, with the Rev. Dr. Robert G. Moore III officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Oakey's North Chapel 2 til 4 p.m. and 7 til 9 p.m. Monday. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Bonsack Baptist Church Building Fund, 4845 Cloverdale Road, Roanoke, Va. 24019.

PERDUE, Timothy A., 49, of Vinton, died June 23, 1996. He was an Off Ice Official for The Roanoke Express. Survivors include wife, Jean Thomas Perdue, Vinton; two sons, Nathaniel Perdue, Vinton, Ty Perdue, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; mother, Juanita Perdue; brothers, Donnie and Harry Perdue, Roanoke; mother and father-in-law, Charles and Dorothy Thomas, Roanoke; brothers and sisters-in-law, Huey and Mary Perdue, Thaxton, Jimmy and Polly Perdue, Goodview; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Vic Fore, Goodview, Janice and Lou Wingfield, Salisbury, Md. QUESENBERRY, William Lawson, 82, of Dugspur, passed away Sunday, June 23, 1996. Mr. Quesenberry was born January 21, 1914, a son of the late Samuel Quesenberry and Samaria Branscome Quesenberry. He was preceded in death by his w ife, Marie Quesenberry. Surviving are one sister, Goldie Newman of Pulaski; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lincoln and Vista Quesenberry of Dugspur, Arvin and Nina Quesenberry of Hillsville; one niece, Nance Kelly; six nephews, Billy Newman, Don Newman, Dean Newman, L. J. Quesenberry, Ronald Quesenberry and Robert Earl Quesenberry. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 1996 in Branscome Cemetery, with military rites by Hillsville V.F.W. Surviving are husband, James Kenneth Ransom; one daughter, April Dawn Matherly, of Roanoke; a stepdaughter, Theresa Garcia, Salt Lake City, Utah; mother, Dorothy M. Wainwright; two sisters, Judy and husband, Jimmy Meador of Goodview, Linda and husband, Danny, of Buchanan, grandchildren, Ashlee, Samantha, and Taylor Matherly; step-grandchildren, Alicia and Pete Garcia.
