Travel in the Blue Ridge Parkway's Roanoke district declined in May from the prior two years. Traffic dropped 7.3 percent on the total length of the scenic road and 9.6 percent along its Virginia portion. The largest share of the visitors, 46,291, who entered the parkway in the Roanoke district came through U.S. 220 south of the city.
