MEET THE YOUNG WOMEN WHO WOULD BE

Twenty-four contestants from around the state will compete in the 43rd annual Miss Virginia Scholarship Pageant this weekend at the Roanoke Civic Center auditorium. The preliminary competition will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and the new Miss Virginia will be crowned on Saturday. Tickets for events Thursday-Friday range from $5 to $9.50. Reserved seats for Saturday's finals which begin at 9 p.m., are $15 or $8.50 for balcony seating. For tickets call 981-1201 or 343-8100. The pageant, airing Sunday night from 9 to 11 on WSLS (Channel 10), will be televised across the state.
