NAMES ON CAMPUS

Eliza Richardson received a bachelor's degree with honors from Princeton University. Richardson majored in geological and geophysical sciences. She will begin graduate study in geophysics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in September.

At Princeton, she was a member of Society of Sigma Xi, the science and engineering honor society and was captain of the women's water polo team, of which she was a four-year member. She also was involved in a university-sponsored service project in Trenton, N.J. Richardson graduated from Blacksburg High School in 1992. She is the daughter of Linda Bonham Richardson of Blacksburg.

Henry M. Bass of Christiansburg received a master's degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech in May. He has a bachelor's degree and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. Bass now is a project engineer managing research and development in the areas of laser processing, robotics and machine tool design and automation for the American Research Corp. of Virginia. Bass is the son of Henry and Harriet Bass. His wife is Lisa M. Bass.

Crystal D. Matusevich received a degree in biology from Sweet Briar College. She is the daughter of Connie B. Matusevich of Blacksburg and the late Johnny L. Matusevich.

Tehshik P. Yoon graduated summa cum laude from Harvard University with a degree in chemistry. Yoon is a recipient of the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship and will attend California Institute of Technology in the fall to pursue a Ph.D. in organic chemistry.

At Harvard, Yoon was a member of the Glee Club, the Veritones, a 15-member acappella vocal ensemble of which he also served as assistant music director, and was a vocal director of a student production. This summer he is serving as assistant conductor for the Harvard Summer Chorus' Performance of the Brahms Requiem. In addition, he was an editorial writer for the school paper. Yoon graduated from Blacksburg High School in 1992. He is the son of Roe-Hoan and Myungshin Yoon of Blacksburg.

Kevin R. Schutt of Christiansburg graduated cum laude from the College of William and Mary. He received a degree in mathematics. He was a member of the Golden Key Honor Society and studied both classical and jazz guitar. He is the son of Sharon and Dale Schutt.

Jo Ellen Frantz graduated magna cum laude from Lenoir-Rhyne College, Hickory, N.C., with a degree in elementary education. She was recipient of the Outstanding Student Teacher Award and Outstanding Delta Zeta Collegian Award. She will assume a teaching position with a North Carolina school system in the fall. Frantz is a 1992 graduate of Blacksburg High School. She is the daughter of Nevin and Sally Jo Frantz of Blacksburg.

Rebecca J. Rudd received her doctor of medicine degree from the University of Virginia in May. She will attend a one-year internship at the Medical Center of Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif. She then will return for a three-year residency in dermatology at the University of Virginia. Rudd is the granddaughter of Elsie E. Strawn and the late James B. Strawn Jr. of Radford and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene E. Rudd of Alexandria.

Blacksburg native and Virginia Tech graduate student Robert Brown received the first Caroline Pace Chermisde Award of $1,000. Brown is working on a master's degree in English. He received his undergraduate degree from James Madison University.

Jennifer Donikowski, a student at Radford University, was selected to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donikowski.

Blacksburg resident Martin J. Donnelly received a master's degree in engineering mechanics from Virginia Tech. He also received his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech. Donnelly, a doctoral student, works as a graduate research assistant. He is the son of John Donnelly and Novah Taylor.
