A 23-year-old woman was raped at knifepoint early Tuesday in Southwest Roanoke, according to police.
About 1:40 a.m., officers responded to a call for help in the 2700 block of Franklin Road. They found a woman suffering from bruises and scrapes. She was treated at Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital.
Police said she told them she met a man at a coin laundry on Fifth Street Southwest. The man asked her to accompany him to a friend's house. As they walked to a railroad boxcar near a park, the man pulled a knife and ordered her to take off her clothing. Police said he threatened to kill her, then raped her. She escaped and called police.
No arrest has been made.
