Roanoke firefighters plan to set and extinguish fires at a vacant house in Southeast Roanoke today as a training exercise.
The owner of the house at 663 Highland Ave. S.E. donated the property to the city. Some streets near the intersection of Highland and Seventh Street could be blocked at times.
Firefighters from across the city will participate in the exercise from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. New firefighters will gain more experience, and the fire companies will practice working together and try out some new equipment. |- Staff report
