PEDRO EDISON faces a manslaughter charge in the death of a friend.
Virginia Tech football player Pedro Edison has been charged with involuntary manslaughter involving a one-car wreck that killed a friend.
Police Cpl. J.W. Doyle said the arrest warrant was issued Wednesday after he completed his investigation and consulted with Commonwealth's Attorney Raymond C. Robertson. Edison, a redshirt freshman tight end from Waynesboro, was served with the warrant Wednesday. If convicted, Edison could face one to 10 years in prison, Robertson said.
The June 8 wreck that killed Kevin Crawford, 19, involved high speed, Robertson said. Edison's car was traveling at least 55 mph in a 25-mph zone, he said.
According to police, Edison lost control of the car, which turned sideways, struck a utility pole, two trees and several shrubs before hitting a house.
Two other passengers were treated at a local hospital and released. Edison and another passenger were not injured.
