CORNELISON TO HEAD BAR ASSOCIATION

CHARLES O. CORNELISON, a partner in Roanoke law firm Copenhaver Ellett & Cornelison and a former general district court judge, has been elected president of the Roanoke Bar Association for a one-year term.

Cornelison also has been an adjunct instructor of business law at Virginia Western Community College, a substitute judge and special justice for the 23rd Judicial District and commissioner in chancery for the 23rd Judicial Circuit.

MARYELLEN F. GOODLATTE of Glenn Feldmann Darby & Goodlatte was chosen president-elect of the association.

ACCOUNTING

The Roanoke Area Chapter of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants has elected officers and directors for 1996-1997: DEBORAH L. GLOSSBRENNER, town of Blacksburg, president; DAVID P. LUCAS, Lucas & Boatwright, vice president; DAVID A. PRUETT, Meadowbrook Inc., secretary; and C. SCOTT CLARKE, R. William Johnson Jr. & Co., treasurer.

BANKING

LINDA L. CORY, assistant vice president of NationsBank, has been named manager of the Daleville office's consumer sales team. She previously managed the consolidated NationsBank Troutville office. Also at the Daleville office, DONNA W. BARNETT has been appointed a consumer banker. Barnett has worked for the bank in various capacities.

AND UNIVERSITIES|

JOHN G. CASALI has been appointed head of the Virginia Tech Industrial and Systems Engineering Department at the university's College of Engineering. Casali joined the Tech faculty in 1982. He established the auditory systems laboratory in 1983 where he conducts research in human factors engineering and ergonomics in the areas of workplace and vehicle safety.

Casali has been interim head of the department since last August.

CONSULTANTS

DAN D. OYLER has been named area manager of Right Associates, consultants on managing organizational change. He will be working from Right's newly-opened Roanoke office. For the past eight years, Oyler has been vice president of Business Management Services Inc. Through a cooperative arrangement, Right will provide career management consulting to BMS' customers.

ENGINEERS|

Spectrum Engineers, a Roanoke civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering firm, has added two engineers to its professional staff. RACHEL C. FORE has joined the electrical department after five years with Intermet Foundries and B&W Nuclear Technologies of Lynchburg. GARY ANDERSON has joined the mechanical department with 10 years of experience in the field of heating, ventilation and air conditioning.

HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING

ROBBIE HORAK has been promoted to general manager of construction for Southern Air Inc.'s Roanoke division. Horak, who has been with Southern Air for six years, will supervise all mechanical construction operations for the Roanoke area and Western Virginia.

INTERIOR DESIGN

LUCINDA JENNINGS, an associate with Hayes Seay Mattern and Mattern Inc., has been chosen president-elect of the Virginia Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers. WENDY CRENSHAW, owner of Conceptions Inc. of Roanoke, has been elected the chapter's treasurer.

MANUFACTURING

DONALD W. TURNER of Martinsville has been appointed commodities manager at Nationwide Homes. In his new position, he will purchase lumber and other commodity products for the modular systems builder. Turner has worked for Nationwide Homes for 22 years, most recently as director of purchasing.

WALTER R. GREGORY of Collinsville has been named purchasing manager for the company. He has worked for Nationwide for more than 23 years.

MARK L. FITZGERALD of Rocky Mount has been selected for the new position of administrative services manager for the order processing, special pricing and customer services departments. He has been with the company for 15 years, most recently as manager of special pricing.

MEDIA

ROBERT G. LEE, president and general manager of WDBJ-TV in Roanoke, was elected secretary/treasurer of the Virginia Association of Broadcasters. He formerly was a director of the organization. RANDY SMITH, vice president and general manager of WSLS-TV in Roanoke, has been named a director for District 6 of the association, which represents more than 120 radio and television stations in Virginia.

MEDICINE

DR. JOELLE D. MILLER has joined the pediatric cardiology staff at the Pediatric Specialty Clinic at Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital. Miller most recently was associated with the Pediatrix Medical Group in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., following private practice for several years in Boca Raton.

RETAIL

ROBERT KRAMER has been appointed executive vice president and chief information officer of the Home Shopping Network Inc., based in St. Petersburg, Fla., a television retailer with an order-filling warehouse in Salem.

Kramer comes to HSN from Hanover Direct, where he also was executive vice president and chief information officer. Hanover Direct is a Weehawken, N.J.-based mail-order merchant operating two catalog fulfillment and telemarketing centers in Botetourt and Roanoke counties.

UTILITIES

SUE SMITH has been promoted to safety and health manager at American Electric Power Co. She will be based in AEP's human resources southern delivery center in Roanoke. Smith, who began her career with the power company in 1978, currently is safety assistant. She will succeed DOUG FORBES, who will retire after 18 years with AEP.
