The winner will preside over the fair and compete for the Miss Virginia Fair Association crown. She will receive a $1,000 scholarship. The first runner-up will get $500 and the second runner-up $250.

Entry forms must be postmarked by July 19. Further information is available by calling Stacy Harrell at 980-5581.

Wythe to study industrial park

WYTHEVILLE - The Wythe County Joint Industrial Development Authority has recommended that the Board of Supervisors hire the Blacksburg engineering firm of Anderson & Associates to study property for a new industrial park.

The cost, estimated at $55,000, would include environmental and evaluation work on the 1,200-acre site under option, help getting the financing to prepare it, and a plan for development.

The plan could be completed as early as September and the park ready for occupancy by July, 1988. The acreage, northeast of Wytheville, is owned by the Suthers and Ratliff families.

Wytheville college offers math classes

WYTHEVILLE - Wytheville Community College will offer developmental math courses during the second half of its summer term, from July 5 to Aug.12.

Tuition is $240.75 for each five-credit class. Scheduling and other information is available by calling Gary Laing at 223-4802 or (800)468-1195.
