The Roanoke Star U-13 boys' soccer team lost 2-0 to West End (N.J.) in the United States Youth Soccer Regional Championships in Niagara Falls, N.Y., on Saturday.
West End is the defending Region I champion. The Roanoke Star, the first team to represent Southwest Virginia in Region I, will play the champions from New York and Delaware today.

* The Roanoke Star U-15 Red boys' soccer team advanced to the quarterfinal round of a tournament in MontrealTHEY DIDN'T KNOW THE NAME with a pair of 1-0 victories.
In the first game, Lewis Helsher's goal gave the Star a victory over Brossard, Quebec. In the second game, Scott Light had the goal to beat Kanatta, Ontario. Derek Taylor was in goal for both shutouts.
The single-elimination round of the tournament is today.
