ALLEN, Beulah Moore, (``Pat""), 95, of Fincastle, departed this life Friday, Jun e 28, 1996. She was born May 4, 1901, in Bradshaw, Roanoke County, a daughter of the late Mansfield Marion and Cordelia Murdock Moore. She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Allen. She came to Fincastle in 1920 and was a Public Stenographer for many years. She was a Deputy Clerk of the Circuit Court of Botetourt County from 1942 until her retirement in 1972. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and George Black of Fincastle; one stepdaughter, Elizabeth Savage of Roanoke; one granddaughter and her husband, Lisa and Leonard Newmark; one grandson, David Cassady; four stepgrandchildren, Leslee Stull, Jimmy Stull, Michael Stull and Missy Stull; two great-grandchildren, and four stepgreat-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Monday, July 1, 1996, at 11 a.m., in the Rader Daleville Chapel, with the Rev. Neil Dunnavant officiating. Burial will be private and at a later date. ANDERS, Bessie Mae, 84, of Comers Rock, widow of Thomas J. Anders, passed away Saturday, June 29, 1996. Funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday, Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Carsonville, Va. Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, Va., in charge of arrangements.

ANDERSON, Queen Viola, 73, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, June 29, 1996. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel, with the Rev. Lorraine Sample officiating. ANDERSON, Queen Viola, 73, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, June 29, 1996. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Wilbert Thomas (Marthalena) Anderson of Fayetteville, N.C.; three daughters, Senia Mae Smith, Shirley Ann Smith and Alice Lucille (James ``Jimmy"") Lewis of Roanoke; one brother and sister-in-law, the Rev. George (Theda) Brown of Connecticut; one sister, Mary Alic e Rucker of Baltimore, Md.; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. BECKNER, Maggie Edna, 89, of Salem, passed away Sunday, June 30, 1996. She was a lifetime member of Salem Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lacy J. Beckner, and daughter, Shirley B. Fischer. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Doris B. Duncan, Roanoke, Faye B. and Hurley Cooper, Cloverdale; son and daughter-in-law, Gil and Sharon Beckner, Roanoke; grandchildren, Judy Shaver, Sandy Roland, Teresa Argabright, Mickey Cooper, Larry Cooper, Gilbert Cooper, Billie Jo Cooper, Chuckie Fischer, Sissie Fischer, Phoebe Fischer, Becky Harless, Patty Dillon, and Michael Beckner; 22 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Salem Church of Christ, with Roy Miller and Jim Herron officiating. Burial to follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. BROOKS, David Lee, 44, of Roanoke County, died Saturday, June 29, 1996, at his home. David was a graduate of Northside High School, Class of 1970; was a former member of North Roanoke Baptist Church, and was a former manager for Beneficial Finance Company in Lynchburg. He was currently employed by Orvis, and is survived by his parents, Herbert A. Jr. and Anna H. Brooks of Roanoke County; his brothers and sister-in-law, Donald Wayne Broo ks of Roanoke and Dennis Ray and Loma Jean Brooks of Troutville; his nieces, Ashley, Amber and April, and his nephew, Adam. DAVIS, Robert Eugene, of Wilmington, N.C., died Thursday, June 27, 1996, at his residence. Mr. Davis was born in Chicago, Ill., on March 18, 1924. He was owner of R. B. Vance Investments in Joliet, Ill., and was a member of the Mid West Stock Exchange. Mr. Davis was a graduate of the Un iversity of Virginia, and served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jean Martin Davis; three daughters, Mrs. Susan B. Davis Eisenberg, Mrs. Katharine W. Hickman and Mrs. Elizabeth H. Grogan; three grandchildren, and a brother, Lawrence R. (``Pat"") Davis and wife, Isabelle. GRIFFIN-CROSS, Rheda L., 49, of Blacksburg, died early Saturday, June 29, 1996 at her home. HODGES, Charlie Wayne, 91, of Roanoke, died Sunday, June 30, 1996. He was a retired foreman from Valley Lumber and was a member of Williamson Road Masonic Lodge #163 A.F.&A.M. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen W. Hodges; a son, Vernon Wray Hodges; a daughter, Cleo Kathleen Hodges; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Russell H. Hodges, and sisters, Ellen Hodges and Georgie Orndorf. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lotz Roanoke Chapel by the Rev. Don McCaskill, with burial in East Hill Cemetery, Salem. JOHNSTON, Almeta Clemens, 83, of Salem, died Saturday, June 29, 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryan Johnston and a daughter, Peggy Snellings. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara J. Williams, Betty and Kenneth Blount, all of Salem; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; a special nephew, Dick Gallion, Las Vegas, Nevada. KING, Gertrude Mabel Fridley, 85, of Lexington, died Sunday morning, June 30, 1996, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in L exington. She was born February 20, 1911, in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Charles William and Margaret Shifter Fridley. She was formerly of Jackson Heights in Covington, and was a founding member and elder of Mallow Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry King Sr., in 1963. She is survived by two sons, James H. King Jr. of Lexington and William F. King of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren, James S. King of Hope Mills, N.C., Hope K. Bird of Colonial Heights, Laura K. Hotinger of Lexington, Jacob W. King of Richmond and Michael F. King of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; seven great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Judy Breeden and Minnie Patrick of Covington and Ruth Sizemore of Petersburg. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Mrs. King's name to Mallow Presbyterian Church in Covington. LEONARD, Thelma Fleming, 90, of Roanoke, died in a local nursing home, Saturday, June 29, 1996. She was the daughter of the late Charles C. and Elizabeth Sanders Fleming. Mrs. Leonard was the widow of H. Gordon Leonard and was a member of Windsor Hills United Methodist Church, and past Worthy Matron of the Logan Ch apter #60, Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Neysa F. Ezelle, Henderson, N.C.; also several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Doris B. Ashford, Salem and Mrs. Vivian Glidden, Roanoke. Graveside services will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 1996 at Fair View Cemetery, with the Rev. Don Carlton officiating. McCORMICK, Peggy Jean, 35, of 8833 Twinpond Lane, New Hill, N.C ., died Saturday, June 29, 1996 at the U.N.C. Hospital in Chapel Hill, N.C. Peggy was called home to Glory to be with her loved ones. She was born August 23,1960 in Radford, Va. She was a graduate of the Class of 1980 from Pulaski County High School, and she was preceded in death by a brother, Perry Lee McCormick. Surviving are her parents, James H. (Jimmy) and Patricia Jean King (Patty) McCormick, Pulaski; maternal grandmother, Anna Marie King, Pulaski; paternal grandparents, Garner and Lucille McCormick, Glade Springs; two aunts, Stella Booth, Glade Springs, Va., Judy Cherry, Granby, N.C.; special big brother, David Lucas, Pulaski; special friend, Allen Smith, Apex, N.C. MULLEN, Curtis Eugene, 40, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 30, 1996. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas J. (``Hoss"") Mullen Sr. He is survived by his mother, Thelma Marsico Mullen; his wife, Martha L. Mullen; loving daughter, Renee Frances Mullen; sisters and brother-in-law, Sara and Boyce Osborne and Nancy L. Fernatt; a brother, T. J. PRILLAMAN, Arthur Hurd, 77, of 705 Forest St., Martinsville, husband of Virdner Rakes Prillaman, died Sunday, June 30, 1996 at the V. A. Hospital in Salem, Va. He was born in Franklin County, Va. on March 26, 1919 to the late Charlie Franklin and Altie Turner Prillaman. He was a retired auto mechanic. Mr. Prillaman was a member of Starling Ave. Baptist Church, where he served on the Deacon Board, the Building and Grounds Committee and also was a former member on the Board of Directors of the church. He was a decorated veteran of WWII, having served with the U. S. Army, 158th RCT, in the Pacific. He was a member of the American Legion and was the Scout Master for Boy Scout Troup #72 for many years. He is survived by his wife, Virdner Rakes Prillaman, of the home; two daughters, Carolyn P. Joyce, Waynesboro, Linda P. Moore, Martinsville; two sons, Kennis H. Prillaman, Salem, Ronnie W. Prillaman, Ridgeway; four sisters, Pauline P. Quinn, Margie P. Stone, Mamie Lee P. Sullivan, all of Henry, Shirley P. Moore, Fieldale; one brother, Earnest Reed Prillaman, Henry; seven grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
