ROANOKE VALLEY ECONOMIC INDICATORS

Homes sales in the Roanoke Valley took a plunge in June, with 300 homes changing hands - down 10.9 percent from 337 in May and 21.7 percent from 383 in June a year ago. The Roanoke Valley Association of Realtors said 265 sales contracts were closed during the month. There were 2,181 homes on the market at the end of June, including 526 that were listed during the month. On average, buyers paid 5.4 percent less than the listed price. Properties spent an average of 83 days on the market, and the median price was $99,500.

The most expensive house sold for the listed price of $599,000 after 63 days on the market. The least expensive house listed for $11,500 and sold for $5,000 after 32 days.
