Montgomery County:

BLACKSBURG:

Blacksburg will kick off its Fourth of July celebration with a parade downtown at 2 p.m. Shows will be held at both the Lyric Theater and Henderson Lawn throughout the afternoon. Howitzers will be fired in harmony with the "1812 Overture" immediately before the fireworks show.

Lyric Theater

3 p.m. - Puppets by Pizzazz (Second showing, 4:30 p.m.)

3:30 p.m. - Patches The Clown (Second showing, 5:15 p.m.)

6:30 p.m. - "Jumanji" with Robin Williams

Henderson Lawn

3 p.m. - Olen Gardner and the Appalachian Ramblers

4:15 p.m. - 29th Division Stage Band

5:15 p.m. - The Wilderness Chorus of Sweet Adelines International

6:15 p.m. - The McKenzies

7:30 p.m. - Presentation of the Colors

8:30 p.m. - 1812 Overture with cannons by Battery A, 1st Battalion, 246th Artillery

9:30 p.m. - Fireworks

Shawsville:

The Shawsville Ruritan Club will provide music at the Shawsville High School athletic field beginning at 7 p.m. and fireworks at dark. The fireworks are courtesy of Sisson & Ryan Inc. and the event is free.

Pulaski County:

At 11 a.m., Dublin, Pulaski County and Pulaski will participate in the 1996 "Let Freedom Ring" ceremony at the Old Courthouse. The courthouse bell will toll 13 times in honor of July 4, 1776 - when Philadelphia honored the delegates from the original colonies by ringing the Liberty Bell 13 times. Local churches have been asked to join in the bell-ringing at 11 a.m. to observe this national ceremony. There also will be a recorded reading by former President George Bush before and a 13-gun salute after the bell ringing.

10:30 a.m. - VFW Honor Guard will lead a march to the Old Courthouse

11 a.m. - Old Courthouse bell will toll 13 times

Taps

Dublin:

Radio station Eagle Country 107-WPSK and Columbia Pulaski Community Hospital present a day of music at the Dublin Fairgrounds. Four local country bands will perform in the afternoon followed by comedian Cledus T. Judd and the group Shenandoah in the evening.

2 p.m. - Festivities begin with games for children, including a dunking booth, Dizzy the Dinosaur and Uncle Sam. First local band performs

7 p.m. - Cledus T. Judd performs

8 p.m. - Shenandoah performs

Fireworks will follow Shenandoah's performance

New River Valley Speedway:

The speedway near Fairlawn will feature a huge monster truck show and several races in the afternoon. Admission at the gate is $12 for adults and $5 for children between ages of 3 and 12. Tickets can also be bought before 3 p.m. at $10 for adults and $4 for children at the following places: Shepherd Auto Parts, Joco marts, Cougar Express and Runner Food marts.

3 p.m. - Gates open

3:30 p.m. - Free monster truck rides (until 5:30 p.m.)

4:30 p.m. - Autograph session with monster truck drivers (until 5:30 p.m.)

6:30 p.m. - Races begin: featuring the monster truck show, a mini-cup race and a stunt cyclist

Fireworks will follow the races

Radford:

The 15th annual Radford Fourth celebration takes place in Bisset Park including various games, booths and events such as river-raft racing. The gazebo will feature different performance groups all day, including square dancers, gospel singers and country bands.

10 a.m. - Radford Fourth '96 begins

11 a.m. - Games for children ages 6 and under held in Shelter #1 area

Raft judging begins under Memorial Bridge

11:30 a.m. - Canoe launching begins at public boat launch below Claytor Dam

12 p.m. - Games for children ages 7 to 12 in Shelter #1 area. Kayak racing begins at public boat launch

2:30 p.m. - Presentation of race awards

7:10 p.m. - Evening program of comments, prayer and music

9:30 p.m. - Fireworks

Floyd County:

The annual July 4 festivities begin at noon behind the Floyd County High School. The afternoon promises food booths and activities, including a music and dance competition. There is 50-cent admission fee.

12 p.m. - Gates open

3 p.m. - Music and dance competition begins (until 5 p.m.)

5 p.m. - Various groups perform

Giles County:

Narrows:

The Kiwanis Club of Narrows is holding its 46th annual homecoming festival and water carnival at the Narrows Town Park. There will be food, music, contests and an arts and crafts show. Gates open at 8 a.m. and admission will be $3 for adults and $1 for children 12 and under. Proceeds will go to improvements for the park.

8 a.m. - Gates open

Arts & crafts show

Contests in swimming, water balloon toss, three-legged race, basketball and treasure hunt for children aged 5 and younger.

10 a.m. - Bingo at upper shelter (until 5 p.m.)

1 p.m. - Concert - Vic Baker (until 4 p.m.)

8 p.m. - Opening - "Voices of Vision" - First Baptist Church; Melanie Tate; Rivers Edge

"Wild Heart" performs after opening show

Dusk - Fireworks

A dance will follow the fireworks on the tennis courts and conclude at midnight. There is a separate admission charge of $3 a person or $5 a couple for the dance.
