The award winners are: Good Samaritan Hospice and North Cross Parents Council, Community Service; Atlantic Mutual Companies, Employer of the Year; Beth Macy, Media; North Roanoke Family Physicians, Medical; Dr. Stephanie Pratola, Mental Health Professional; Judge Diane Strickland, Public Policy; the Rev. Kirk Ballin, Robert A. Croxson Memorial Award; Calvary Baptist Foundation, MHA Partnership; Dr. John McDowell, Unsung Hero; Katie Van Patten, Distinguished Service; and Dr. Gudrun Freeman, MHARV Volunteer of the Year.
AMVETS AUXILIARY No. 2 recently held officer elections for the 1996-97 membership year. The officers are: Pamela J. Smith, president; Belva Matherly, first vice president and secretary; Myrtle Hannah, second/third vice president; Julia M. Shultz, treasurer; Jean Seleno, hospital chairman; Nina Board, chaplain.
AMVETS No. 2 was also named "Auxiliary of the Year" at last year's National Convention in Cincinnati.
THE TRIAD S.A.L.T. COUNCIL OF THE ROANOKE VALLEY has elected Marie Foster vice president of the council. June Cosnotti will serve as secretary.
Don Thorne is now serving as president of the Triad S.A.L.T. Council, which is a cooperative effort of law enforcement and seniors working together to implement effective crime prevention for older community members.
