STORE EMPLOYEES CAME TO THE RESCUE

Dear Neighbors:

A very special thank-you is in order to the manager and a number of employees at the Kmart store at Crossroads Mall.

On June 13, my husband fell in the store. I went to the service desk and asked for help. In a matter of seconds the manager and a number of employees were there with tissues, a towel and a bag of ice to take care of a bad nosebleed.

They were so helpful and their kindness was greatly appreciated. Lucille Agnes Roanoke

Dear Neighbors:

I'm writing in regard to the Neighbors section of June 12 on the fathers of the year for 1996.

There wasn't an Afro-American male selected. I wonder why.

There are plenty of Afro-American males here in the Roanoke Valley that could have been voted father of the year.

If our newspaper and government want any type of information on anyone, they always come to our churches.

There were three black women selected as mother of the year. Where did these selections come from? Dallas W. Proax Jr.
