Roanoke police arrested another suspect Wednesday in connection with the thefts of four Honda automobiles in May.
Police said an investigator spotted 18-year-old David Wayne Elkins near his home in the 4300 block of Williamson Road on Wednesday, and called other detectives to the area.
Elkins fled on foot when approached but was apprehended after a short pursuit, police said.
According to arrest warrants, Elkins was charged with two counts of grand larceny, three counts of trespassing and one count of failure to appear in court, all in the city; and two counts of grand larceny in Roanoke County. He is being held without bail.
Elkins' arrest was the sixth in response to a string of at least 15 thefts of Honda Accords and Civics in Southwest Roanoke.
Aside from Elkins, all arrested for the thefts so far are juveniles, who abandoned the cars after what police called "joy-riding."
