BARKLEY, Nedra Echols, 84, of Goodview, died Friday, July 5, 1996. She was preceded in death by a brother, Everett Echols. She is survived by her husband, Roger B. Barkley; and two daughters, Wanda Eloise Snyder, Glenna Barkley Gabbert; three grandchildren, Betsy Eloise Snyder, Angela Barkley Jones, Rebecca Barkley Hawkins; and a sister, Nancy Echols Copeland. Services will be at Oakey's Vinton Chapel 11 a.m. Monday, July 8, 1996. The Rev. Allison Echols will officiate. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. BAUMGARDNER, John Daniel, 80, of Marion, died Thursday, July 4, 1996, at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tenn. Mr. Baumgardner was a member of Falling Water Baptist Church, where he taught the Adult Men's Sunday School Class. He was a decorated veteran of World War II, where he received the E.A.M.E. Campaign Medal, two Bronze Battle Stars, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal, American Defense Service Medal, and Expert Infantry Medal. While serving his country in World War II, Mr. Baumgardner was held as a prisoner of war. He was an active member of Marion VFW Post #4667 and a life-time member of the American Legion Post #18. He is survived by his wife, Mary Winebarger Baumgardner of Marion; one godson, Scott Wood of Towson, Md.; one brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marion ``Bud'' and Helen Winebarger of Marion, Frances Baumgardner of Chilhowie, and Lillian Baumgardner of Virginia Beach; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 7, 1996, at 2 p.m. at Falling Water Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Boyette and Rev. Paul B. Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by Marion VFW Post #4667. The body will be taken to the church one hour before the service. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Falling Water Baptist Church Memorial Fund for J. D. Baumgardner, c/o Nancy Holman, Treasurer, Route 1, Box 148-A, Marion, Va. 24354. MILKO, John A., 85, of Daleville, passed away Thursday, July 4, 1996. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Anne Marguerite Milko; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dave and Marilyn Milko of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Carl and Elaine Milko of Roanoke; seven grandchildren, Lisa Lukas and husband Michael, Karin Milko, Erika Mil ko, David Milko Jr., Nicole Gracely and husband Brian, Susan Milko and John Milko; one sister, Cecilia Bolton, and one brother, James Milko, both of Alabama, and numerous nieces and nephews. MOYER, Jacqueline Mildred Jones., 74, of Roanoke, died Friday, July 5, 1996, in a local hospital. She was born Decemb er 1, 1921, in Danville. Survivors include her husband, the Rev., Virgil A. Moyer Jr., Roanoke; her son, Keith, daughter-in-law, Suzanne; and granddaughters, Allyson and Whitney, all of Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, Robert Lee Jones of Danville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Posey H. Jones Sr. of Danville; and a brother, Posey H. Jones Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Roanoke, and of the Thursday Morning Music Club. SHERMAN, Leon Clifton, 60, of Ripplemead, died in Meadowbrook Nursing Home at Shawsville on Thursday, July 4, 1996, following a long illness. Born in Vermont, he was a son of the late Abraham and Sarah Weston Sherman, and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and a former employee of Ripplemead Lumber Co. Private memorial services will be conducted at a later date following cremation of his remains, according to his request. Arrangements are by Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke.

TAYLOR, George, 73, of 905 Hill Street, Pulaski, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 1996, in the Pulaski Community Hospital. Born January 29, 1923 in Newburgh, N.Y., he was the son of the late John William Taylor and Minnie Elizabeth Forward Taylor. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, John ``Johnny'' Taylor, Gordon Taylor, and James ``Jimmy'' Taylor. He was a veteran of the United States Army-Air Corp, having served during World Was II as an aircraft and engine mechanic supervisor. He was a member of the Oak Street Baptist Church, Newburgh, N.Y. He was retired with over 34 years of service as a maintenance supervisor with Sweet-Orr, Pulaski Apparel, and Lee Jeans companies. Surviving are his wife, Helen Komar Taylor; three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Barbara Taylor, Greer, S.C., Robert and Nancy Taylor, Dublin, John William and Joyce Taylor, Max Meadows; two brothers, Walter Taylor, Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y., Kenneth Forward Taylor, Bend, Ore.; eight grandchildren, Donna Roe, Angela Hill, Sarah Taylor, Ellen Taylor, Paul Taylor, Jonathan Taylor, Mary Taylor, Grace Taylor; one great-grandson, Tyler Hill; several nieces and nephews. TUDOR, William Herbert, Sr., 78, of Rocky Mount, passed away at his home on Thursday, July 4, 1996. He was the son of the late William Barney and Sarah Freeman Tudor of Crtiz, Va. He is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-four years, Irene Hunt Tudor; two sons and daughters-in-law, William Herbert (Ted), Jr. and Carolyn Disbrow Tudor, Martinsville, Fred Lewis and Sharon Keatts Tudor, Rocky Mount; three brothers and sisters-in-law, James G. and Delia Tudor, Madison N.C., Billy and Louise Tudor, Ralph and Delores Tudor, Eden, N.C.; one half brother and sister-in-law Earl and Betty Tudor, Collinsville, one step sister, Jenny Miller, Critz; one step brother, Ivan Corns, Bassett; one grandchild and her husband, Sandra and John Athey, Bassett; two step grandchildren, Ken and Ashleigh Frith, Roanoke; one step great-grandchild, Hunter Athey, Bassett; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Tudor retired from Central Telephone Company after thirty-three years of service. He was a member of the Rocky Mount Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher and a Deacon. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army for nine years. TURNER, Jeanella, (Mrs. Claude E. Sr.), 86, of Gate City, died Friday, July 5, 1996, at Indian Path Hospital, Kingsport, Tenn. She was born in Gary, W.Va., and was a resident of Gate City for many years. She was a homemaker, and a member of Gate City United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude E. Turner Sr.; two sisters; three brothers; and her parents, Elgin and Lakie Collins McCormick. She is survived by one daughter, Virginia T. Wooten, Kingsport, Tenn.; one son, Claude E. Turner, Galax; one sister, Mrs. Carl (Jean) Harmon, Upper Marlboro, Md.; one brother, Kermit McCormick, Tucson, Ariz.; one granddaughter, Noelle Turner Cockrell; and one grandson, Edward Randolph Turner; several nieces and nephews.
