YOUNG REEDY SHOWS HE'S READY AT FCS

The Kingery Brothers 300 on Saturday night served notice that Franklin County Speedway has become a family race track.

Tink Reedy, son of two-time track champion Orvil Reedy of Daleville, came to the three-eighths-mile oval for the first time this season and won the Late Model Stock race, holding off Jimmy Mullins of Collinsville.

The senior Reedy took the evening off, so father and son weren't racing each other, but Tink Reedy said he looked forward to racing his father in the future.

``I would've liked to have beaten Pop, but I'll be back [to Franklin County] and maybe then I'll have the chance,'' Tink Reedy said.

Reedy had his hands full in turning away points leader Mullins, who dogged him for most of the 100 laps and made numerous attempts to pass. But Mullins was unable to get by the leader.

Carl Dadian, driving Orvil Reedy's car, stayed on Mullins' bumper throughout the race and finished third. Dudley Lawhorne, who qualified eighth, fought his way through traffic and ended up fourth.

Bobby Radford started on the pole and stayed in the top five until he was slowed by a flat tire on lap 77. He finished in ninth place.

In other racing at the track:

Mike Dudley continued his domination of the Limited Sportsman division, winning the pole and leading all the way.

Wayne Corprew and Skip Bennington finished second and third, respectively, but both were disqualified for illegal clutches. Bobby Griffin and Geno Roop moved into those spots.

Jay Peery and Kelly Kingery battled and lapped traffic in the Pure Stock race, and Peery came out of it with his fifth victory of the season. Junior Lester finished third.

Gary Joyce kept on rolling in the Mini Stock division, winning his seventh race of the season by beating Dennis Sloan and Carlton Clark, who were second and third, respectively.

Tommy Hall won his first race of the season in the Rookie division by edging Gerald Wingfield.

Bob Cregger, who leads the division in points, finished third and held on to his points lead.

Patrick Evans won the Any Car race.
