ADAMS, Stanley Crockett Sr., 81, of Dublin, died Monday, July 8, 1996. Funeral 11 a.m. Thursday, Stevens Funeral Chapel, Pulaski.

ATKINSON, Goldie Jewell, age 99 years and 9 months, of Shawsville, died Monday, July 8, 1996, in Meadowbrook Nursing Home. She was born October 6, 1896, the daughter of the late Commodore and Arena Shank Jewell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Atkinson; as well as two sons; two grandsons; two granddaughters; five sisters; and six brothers. She is survived by one brother, Rev. J. M. Jewell, Christiansburg; three sons and daughters-in-law, Maurice and Helen Atkinson, Radford, Rev. Cline and Frances Atkinson, Narrows, Billy and Priscilla Atkinson, Shawsville; three daughters and a son-in-law, Freda Cooper, Lois and Ed Henson, all of Shawsville, Ruth Willis, Pulaski; eleven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 11, at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel, Christiansburg, conducted by three of her grandsons, Rev. David Atkinson, Rev. Tony Atkinson, and Rev. Steve Willis, with burial in Piedmont Cemetery, Shawsville. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

AYERS, Lois Breeden, 88, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, July 9, 1996. She was a member of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church and was the organist for 43 years. Mrs. Ayers was a graduate of both Shenandoah and Otterbein Colleges, and taught piano for 63 years. She was Mother of the Year for Family Life in 1972, and held membership in the D.A.R., the American Guild of Organists, and the Roanoke Music Teachers Association. Mrs. Ayers was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest H. Ayers, and two brothers, Raymond L. Breeden and Maxwell E. Breeden. Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn A. and Harry Victorine, Roanoke; sons and daughters-in-law, David E. and Nancy Ayers, Richmond, Ronald M. and Jodi Ayers, Roanoke; six grandchildren, Michael Finfgeld, Richmond, Martha F. Wilson, Jacksonville, Fla., Sloan Ayers, Richmond, Leigh Fresina, Charlotte, N.C., Kathryn Ayers, Roanoke, and Allyson Ayers, Roanoke; three great-grandchildren, Matthew Wilson, Jacksonville, Fla., Lauren Wilson, Jacksonville, Fla., and Elizabeth Finfgeld, Richmond; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carroll E. and Winkie Breeden, Roanoke, Richard Jennings and Alice Breeden, New Milford, Conn.; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Louisa Breeden, Roanoke, and Mrs. Dorothy Breeden. A memorial service will be conducted at Greene Memorial United Methodist Church 11 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 1996, with the Rev. Robert L. Watts and Dr. Bernard S. Via Jr. officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Greene Memorial Fine Arts Series, P. O. Box 1305, Roanoke, Va. 24007.

DUNCAN, Erskine Dyer, (``Dick""), 78, of Richmond, died Monday, July 8, 1996. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruth H. Duncan, Richmond; one nephew, Payton Duncan; three nieces, Jean Powell, Sue Callahan and Nancy Duncan. Mr. Duncan was a charter member of the Huguenot United Methodist Church, Richmond, and the Fairlawn United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home, Radford. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Newbern Cemetery, with the Rev. HARVEY, Betty Jane Cupp, 72, of Blacksburg, died Tuesday, July 9, 1996, in Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was born in Ashland, Ky., to the late Luther Jackson and Margaret Jane See Cupp. Mrs. Harvey raised her family in Hialeah, Fla., and returned to Blacksburg upon her retirement in 1989. She was a member of Glade Baptist Church of Blacksburg and Westland Baptist Church of Hialeah. She was preceded in death in 1976 by her husband, James S. Harvey. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Arthur J. and Phyllis Harvey of Raleigh, N.C.; two daughters, Lily L. Harvey and Katy E. Harvey of Blacksburg; one grandson, Ariel James Harvey of Raleigh; two sisters, Lillian Cupp of Blacksburg and Kathryn Hill of Savannah, Ga., and three brothers, Wayne J. Cupp, William Cupp and Patrick D. Cupp of Blacksburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 1996, at Halls Church United Methodist, with the Rev. Kelly Sisson officiating. LYNSKEY, Janice L., 72, of Roanoke, died Monday, July 8, 1996, in a local hospital. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Janice E. Ayers, Roanoke, Rebecca Sue and Larry W. Gordon, Salem, Judy Gail and Clyde Tilley, Roanoke; three sons and daughters-in-law, Paul N. II and Brenda Lynskey, Roanoke, William R. Lynskey, Roanoke, Michael E. and Linda Lynskey, Roanoke; twelve grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; one brother, ``Rusty'' Glen Pa ge Hill, Buchanan; five sisters, Claudine, Nana, Cindy, Ann Marie and Phyllis. PERDUE, Nola Mae Dudley, 80, of Rocky Mount, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 9, 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Perdue; a daughter, Barbara Wimmer ; brothers, Henry, Wilma, Hedrick, and Binford Dudley; sisters, Edith Brooks, Elsie Houston, Lois Willis, and Odessa Brown. Surviving are her grandchildren, Eddie and Linda Wimmer, and Daryl Wimmer, Rocky Mount. Mrs. Perdue was a member of Laurel Ridge Primitive Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Thursday with Elder Leonard J. Brammer and Elder Clarence Stone officiating. Burial will follow at the Dudley family cemetery. PORTER, Edna Jean Shores, 74, of Route 3, Wytheville, died Tuesday, July 9, 1996, in the Malin Health Care Center. She was born in Grayson County and was preceded in death by her father, William McKinley Shores. She is survived by her husband, Rev. Garland T. Porter of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law, Nina and Burton Rose of Austinville, Thelma and Meredith Williams of Route 3, Wytheville, Judy Porter of Fries, Dale and Floyd Davis of Wytheville; her mother, Thelma Pugh Shores of Galax; two sisters, Dorothy Shaffner of Fries, Betty Campbell of Greensboro, N.C.; a brother, Bill Shores of Galax; eight grandchildren, Michael Rose of Denver, Colo., Curtis Williams of Max Meadows, Belinda Taylor of Austinville, Christy Chavis of South Carolina, Angel Jones of Fries, Cindy Tabor of Pulaski, Keisha Bishop of Wytheville, Christy Bishop of Wytheville. Nine great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 11, 1996, at 2 p.m. at the Full Gospel Bible Mission with the Rev. David Bane and the Rev. Willie Yates officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Reese Funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, or at the residence at any time. Reese Funeral Home in Austinville is in charge of the arrangements.

POWERS, Fannie Weeks, 83, of Bedford, went quietly and peacefully to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 9, 1996. She was born February 5, 1913 in Floyd County, a daughter of the late S. T. Weeks and Viola Slusher Weeks. Her husband was the late James Clarence Powers. She was a retired employee of the Macke Company. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James D. and B arbara Powers, Bedford; two granddaughters, Vicki and husband, Jackie Krantz, Bedford, Toni and husband, Jerry Orange, Thaxton; two great-grandsons, Rodney Orange, Thaxton and Courtney Krantz, Bedford. Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, July 11, 1996. at 3:30 p.m. from the Greenwood Cemetery, by Pastor Ken Butterworth.
