FOR THE RECORD

Michael Brent Estes, 33, of New Castle, pleaded not guilty June 18 to misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Giles County General District Judge T.D. Frith took Estes' case under advisement for one year and sentenced him to 12 months of probation, suspended his driver's license for six months and required him to complete a state-run drug rehabilitation program. If Estes successfully completes the program, the misdemeanor possession charge will be dismissed after one year. The disposition of Estes' case was incorrectly reported in the New River Current on Wednesday and June 20.

Joan Didion wrote a book called "Slouching Toward Bethlehem," but the lines quoted from it in a Wednesday New River Current article about reactions to the coming millennium were originally written by Irish poet William Butler Yeats (1865-1939). Didion was apparently quoting Yeats in her 1968 book.
