The Virginia Commission for the Arts recently awarded several grants to Roanoke-area organizations.
Opera Roanoke was awarded $11,400 for operating support, Roanoke City Schools was awarded $5,000 for an artist residency in creative writing, Roanoke County Schools was awarded $7,250 for an artist residency in creative writing, the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra was awarded $51,600 for operating support, and Roanoke County was awarded a $4,000 local government challenge grant.
The Commission distributes grant money to artists, the arts and other not-for-profit organizations, educational institutions, educators and local governments, and provides technical assistance in arts management.
