The wrath of Hurricane Bertha reached all the way to the hills of central Virginia, dumping a steady amount of rain on City Stadium and forcing the postponement of Friday night's Salem Avalanche-Lynchburg Hillcats baseball game.
The two Carolina League teams will make up the game as part of a doubleheader Aug.12, with a tentative starting time of 5:45 p.m.
Salem (9-10), which was looking to avoid a sweep by the Hillcats in the three-game series, is 4-5 on its 16-game trip. The Avalanche is tied with Kinston for last-place in the league's Southern Division.
Salem travels to Woodbridge tonight to take on the Prince William Cannons at 7. Salem right-hander Luther Hackman is scheduled to make his first start since going on the disabled list May 31. Hackman suffered a broken nose after being hit in the face with a line drive.
