JEFF YOUNG has been named medium mill superintendent for Georgia-Pacific's Big Island operations in Bedford County. He came to Virginia from the company's operations in Cedar Springs, Ga.
Young joined the paper company in 1977 in Cedar Springs as a technical assistant superintendent. After several promotions, he was named assistant superintendent-paper mill with responsibility for No. 3 medium machine in 1990.
Georgia-Pacific manufactures and distributes pulp, paper and building products worldwide. The Big Island facility is part of the company's containerboard and packaging division.
ACCOUNTING
The Roanoke Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants has elected officers for 1996-1997: KERRI THORNTON, Carilion Health Services, president; BONITA JOHNSTON, Transkrit Corp., and NORMA DOWDY, Medeco Security Locks Inc., co-vice presidents of communications; SUSAN CULBERTSON, Controllers Inc., vice president of administration and finance; BRAD MARTENS, vice president of membership; LAURA COLLINS, KPMG Peat Marwick, vice president of professional education; JOYCE TIMBERLAKE, Newbern-Trane, secretary; and TERRY WOOD, RBX Corp., treasurer.
ARCHITECTS AND ENGINEERS
MARTIN P. DALY has been named assistant branch manager for the Marion office of Dewberry & Davis, an engineering, architecture, planning and surveying firm in Southwestern Virginia. In his new position, he will also head the office's civil/environmental engineering department. Daly comes to Dewberry & Davis with more than 31 years of management and technical experience with several consulting engineering firms.
BANKING
MainStreet BankGroup Inc. has elected REBECCA J. JENKINS and JAMES E. ADAMS as executive vice presidents and KENNETH E. LUST as senior vice president of the Martinsville company. Jenkins joined MainStreet in 1994 as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary from Banc One Ohio Corp. Adams joined the company in 1994 as senior vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer. Lust joined MainStreet in 1994 as vice president, credit administration from Bank One, Youngstown, Ohio.
PEGGY BLANKENSHIP has been named a real estate loan officer and ANDREW HOBACK, B.H. RAKESTRAW, FRANKYE SHROPSHIRE and PAT WADE have been elected vice presidents at Salem Bank and Trust. Blankenship is responsible for originating residential mortgage loans; Hoback is manager of the bank's West Main Street office; Rakestraw is manager of the Hollins office; Shropshire is responsible for data processing and bookkeeping at the bank; and Wade is responsible for loan operations.
CHERI PATTERSON has been named a human resources administrator at First Citizens Bank in Roanoke.
TY SMITH has been named branch manager at First Union National Bank of Virginia's Hershberger Road office in Roanoke. He formerly was branch manager of the bank's Hollins office.
COLLEGES
RICHARD W. TROLLINGER has been named vice president for college relations at Centre College in Danville, Ky. Trollinger joined the college two years ago as executive director of development. Prior to that, he had been vice president and interim president of Emory & Henry College.
Trollinger's wife, PATSI BARNES TROLLINGER, formerly director of public relations at Emory & Henry, has been named college coordinator of public information at Centre.
FINANCIAL SERVICES
ROBERT E. BRAILSFORD has joined Richmond-based Davenport & Co.'s Roanoke office as vice president-investments. Brailsford previously was a financial consultant with Wheat First Butcher Singer in Roanoke. He is a certified financial planner.
GOVERNMENT
Washington County Treasurer FRED PARKER has been elected president of the Treasurers' Association of Virginia. The association serves as a liaison between its members and various agencies and committees of the state and federal government. Additionally, it conducts continuing education programs for its membership.
HOSPITALITY
The Camberley Hotel Co., based in Atlanta, has named RONALD G. LAMERS general manager of the Martha Washington Inn in Abindgon. Lamers comes from Richmond where he was manager of the Jefferson Hotel.
INSURANCE
DONNOVAN M. YOUNG has been named district sales manager for Southern Health Services Inc. in Roanoke, a Richmond-based managed health care company that provides health benefits to employer groups in Virginia.
RITA E. JENKINS has become associated with Wilson Insurance and Financial Services Inc. in Roanoke. Jenkins, who has 19 years of experience in trust operations and trust administration, most recently was vice president and employee benefit allocation administrator for First Union National Bank of Virginia.
LAW
MICHAEL A. CLEARY has opened an office in Roanoke for the general practice of law with an emphasis on litigation. Cleary has practiced law for 16 years with the Roanoke firm of Woods, Rogers & Hazlegrove. He is a member of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys and recently completed a three-year term as a faculty member for the Virginia State Bar continuing education program.
