AGEE, Mary Jimmie, 90, of Bedford, passed away Saturday, July 13, 1996 in Bedford County Memorial Hospital. She was born on March 15, 1906, a daughter of the late Willie Hampton Agee and Blanche Vaughn Agee. She was retired from Milan Brothers in Roanoke and was a member of Suck Springs Baptist Church. She is survived by a sister, Josephine A. Kirkwood of Bedford; and nieces and nephews. ALLS, Bessie Virginia, 81, of Ch ristiansburg, was received by the Lord, Saturday, July 13, 1996 in Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was born February 5, 1915 to the late Henry Wiley and Lesie Alls Walters and was also preceded in death by a brother, Henry W. Walters, Jr. She was retired from Virginia Tech with over forty years service. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, J. R. and Mescal Smith, Christiansburg; two daughters and son-in-law, Margaret Sue Smith, Blacksburg, Dorothy and C. W. Toney, Amelia, Va.; one foster daughter, Selena Linkous, Blacksburg; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; four sisters, Shelia Alice Enos of California, Ada Sue Ellen Cooper, Collinsville, Betty J. Parris, Collinsville, Rose A. Leonard of Tennessee; one brother, John Wesley Walters of Tennessee; special friends, George and Genevieve Prescott, Christiansburg. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, July 15, 1996, conducted by the Rev. Vince Guerra and Gary Alls. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. BEARD, Mary Edith Gill, of Lynchburg, died Monday, July 8, 1996. She was born January 5, 1917 in Scottsville, Va., daughter of the late Napoleon Bonaparte Gill and Mary Louisa Carter Gill, formerly of both Lynchburg and Amherst. In 1939 she married James Garland Beard of Vinton, who died in February of this year. Mr. and Mrs. Beard retired in Charlottesville after having lived in many locations in the southeast. They also lived in Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela for a number of years. Mrs. Beard was a member of the Charlottesville Jack Jouett Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and of Trinity United Methodist and Bon Air United Methodist Church in Richmond. Mrs. Beard is survived by her children, Mary Beard Montgomery of Williamson, Ga., Patricia Beard Sprouse, Reston and James Gill Beard, Suffolk; and six grandchildren. Other survivors are her brothers, Carroll V. Gill, Edward S. Gill and Thomas R. Gill, all of Lynchburg; one sister, Thelma Rizzo, Washington, D.C.; a brother-in-law; and two sisters-in-law, Louis and Mary Beard of Vinton, and Atlas Beard Farris, also of Vinton. Visitation with family members is Sunday, July 14, 1996 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Whitten Timberlake Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted from the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Amherst at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 1996, by the Rev. Marc Brown.

BROWNING, Phillip Kendall, 73, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 12, 1996, at Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley. He was a veteran of World War II, U. S. Army Air Corps, 5th Air Force, 8th Combat Cargo Squad. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Browning; son, Lloyd Browning; son and daughter-in-law, Karl David Browning and Donna Browning; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, special granddaughter, Kara Browning; special niece, Betty Meador; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Judy Browning; brother-in-law, C. F. Hartman; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Earlene and Lewis Dangerfield; sister-in-law, Betty Browning, and several nieces and nephews. Phil was a retired meat cutter and also retired from the Roanoke City Schools as a bus driver. Phil was a member of Connelly Memorial Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 15, 1996, at 2 p.m., at Lotz Roanoke Chapel, with the Rev. G. William Foster Jr. and the Rev. Clinton Crump officiating. BURRESS, June Hardwick, 80, of Narrows, died Saturday, June 13, 1996, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Blacksburg. She was born in Craig County on August 28, 1915, and was the daughter of the late Thomas Viceroy and Ida Payne Huffman Hardwick. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Karen Burress of Galax; a brother, J. Shannon Hardwick of Blacksburg; a sister, Eva H. Spencer of Chatham, and two grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church of Narrows, with the Rev. James Lowe and the Rev. Dr. Thomas Whartenby officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, Memorial Boulevard, Narrows. CLAYTOR, Elijah, 87, of Salem, passed away on Friday, July 12, 1996, in the Veterans Administration Hospital. He is survived by a niece, Mrs. Mary Sue Lemons of Floyd; a devoted cousin, Mr. Steven T. Helm of Roanoke; a devoted friend, Mrs. Mary S. Johnson of Salem, and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be conducted in Williams Memorial Park at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 1996, with the Rev. Dwight O. Steele Sr. officiating. COX, Kelly Calvin, 61, of Dublin, died Saturday, July 13, 1996 in a Roanoke hospital. Surviving are his wife, Elsie F. CROUCH, Robert Harold, 57, of Roanoke, died Saturday, July 13, 1996, in a Roanoke hospital. He was employed with Wells Fargo. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Gibson Crouch; two sons, Jimmy Eubank of Canada and Robert H. Crouch Jr. of Roanoke; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry C. and Melvin G. Minnix of Roanoke, Belinda K. DYER, Mary Jim, of Miles, died Friday, July 12, 1996 at her home in Hendersonville, N.C. A native of Tidewater, Va., she was a former resident of Albemarle, N.C., where her husband practiced urology for 20 years. She and her husband have lived in Hendersonville since June 17, 1996. She was a daughter of Mary Mason Neal of Roanoke, Va. and the late James Young Neal. Mrs. Dyer attended Mary Washing College in Fredericksburg, Va. and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority, receiving her Bachelor's Degree in English. She was a former member of the Second Presbyterian Church in Roanoke and the First presbyterian Church in Albemarle. She was a member of the Junior League of Roanoke. She was an avid gardener and bridge player and an accomplished pianist. Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband, Robert Kent Dyer, MD; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Justin and Forrest S. Mohler of Horse Shoe, N.C.; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Kent Dyer, Jr. MD and Nancy B. Dyer of Edmond, Okla.; sister, Frances E. Neal Putt of Richmond; brother, John Young Neal of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Robert Forrest Mohler of Horse Shoe and Kathryn Elizabeth Dyer of Edmond; one niece and one nephew. FISHER, Brenda Rochelle, 40, of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Roanoke, passed away Friday, July 12, 1996. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sadie B. Holloway . She was in the Class of 1973 of Lucy Addison High School. Brenda was a Warehouse Administrator for BASF in Charlotte. She was a member of the Hill Street Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Todd Crutchfield; one daughter, Tara Fisher, both of Roanoke; one sister, Jacqueline Fisher Edwards; one brother, Beverly D. Fisher; stepfather, Charles Holloway; two grandchildren, Rebecca Sadie Crutchfield and Alonee Crutchfield; three aunts, Dorothy B. Jones, Audrey B. Bradburn and Ann B. FOSTER, Barbara Jean Orr, 60, of 1778 Woods Drive, Florence, S.C., died early Saturday morning, July 13, 1996, at her residence after an illness. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Mount Hope Cemetery, Florence, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Mrs. Foster was born in Galax, Va., a daughter of the late W. James and Ann Pratt Orr. She was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church, and a former member and Past President of the Florence Jaycettes. For more than 30 years, she served as Division Director for the Pee Dee Region of the National Foundation of March of Dimes. Surviving are her husband, J. T. (``Mickey"") Foster of Florence; two sons, James H. Foster of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Robert O. Foster of Florence; one sister, Dorothy O. Foster of Galax, Va., and four grandchildren. KEEN, Florine Slade, 56, of 1025 Syracuse Avenue, N.W., died Thursday, July 11, 1996, in Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley. Born on August 12, 1939, she was a daughter of th e late Henry Slade and Jennie Graves Slade. Mrs. Keen was a supervisor of custodians at Roanoke Regional Airport for many years. Survivors include six daughters, Janice Harris and Cheryl Keen of Danville, and Carla Storkey, Donna Keen, Gail Keen and Jeanette Kean of Roanoke; three sons, Clarence W. Keen Jr., Carl Keen and Martin Keen of Roanoke; two sisters, Cleary Davis and Ada Parrish of Danville; one brother, Ross Slade of Danville; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. LEONARD, Albert Graybeal, (``A. G.""), 68, of Atkins, died suddenly of a heart attack Friday, July 12, 1996. He was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Herschel McDivitt of Oil City, Penn., Joyce and Don Shelton of Cloverda le, and Betty and Skip Mitchell of Roanoke; one brother, Ronald C. MILLER, William E. , 70, of Columbia, S.C., died Friday, July 12, 1996. Born in Roanoke, Va., he was the son of the late William E. Miller, Sr. and Lillie Martin Miller. A Navy veteran of WWII, he was retired Districk Supervisor for Greyhound. He was a member of Greenlawn Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Juanita Aldridge Miller, Columbia, S.C.; son, Terry W. MORRIS, Mable Sizemore, 58, of Galax, died Friday, July 12, 1996, in Twin County Regional Hospital. Mrs. Morris was born in Carroll County on August 13, 1937, to Andy Joseph Sizemore and Levie Redd Si zemore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Morris. Mrs. Morris is survived by a foster daughter, Jane Sizemore Wright, Salem; a brother-in-law, Gary Wright, Salem; four sisters-in-law and their husbands, Betty and Harold Schuyler, Winston Salem, N.C., Christine and Wade Hodge, Velma and Roger Jones, all of Galax, Mary Ruth Goodnough, San Jose, Calif.; one brother-in-law and his wife, Joe and Dreama Morris, Emporia. He taught in the Center for Public Administration and Policy and the Political Science Department at VPI&SU for the last twenty-six years. He is survived by his wife, Janice F. YATES, Sandra Joan Oney, 48, of Vinton, died Saturday, July 13, 1996, in a local hospital. She was a member of God's Lighthouse of Prayer. Surviving are her husband, William McClary; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Mark Henderson, Roanoke; sons and daughters-in-law, David Cecil Yate s, Jr., Roanoke, Donald Joseph and Mary Yates, Radford,and Daniel Lee and Marcella Yates, Stewartsville; grandchildren, Michael Lee Yates and Amanda Leigh Yates, both of Roanoke, and Jessica Lynn Yates, Radford; brothers, William Smith, Fairfax, Ralph W. E. Oney, Jr., Ohio; sister, Elizabeth Burroughs, Fairfax, and many nieces, nephews and loved ones. She also is survived by her former husband, David Cecil Yates Sr. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 1996, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, with the Rev. Gene Stafford officiating.
