Bishop anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Carl A. Bishop of Martinsville were honored on their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, July 13, at the Hotel Roanoke. The event was hosted by their children, Linda M. Bishop of Roanoke; Mr. and Mrs. Richard W. Bishop and their son, Justin of Forest, Va.; and Mr. and Mrs. Leslie (Karen) Beck of Anderson, S. C. Mrs. Bishop is the former Georgette Schaefer of Flushing, Long Island, N. Y. The couple was married on Saturday, July 13, 1946, in Jamaica, Long Island, N. Y.
Kelley anniversary
Tipper and Ada M. Kelley were married 52 years ago, July 8, 1944 in Junction City, Kansas. Tipper was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, going to school He then went to Germany with the 11th Armored Division in World War II. Ada is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam Moody of Harlan, Ky.
Tipper and Ada came to Roanoke in 1946 after the War. He worked with Studebaker Company for 17 years and then went with the Department of the Army from which he retired.
Kingery anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. V. Elmer Kingery of Roanoke celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary July 4th. They were married in 1936 in Hollins, Va.|
They have one daughter, one son, five grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.|
Mr. Kingery was self employed. He continues to operate a produce stand on Shenandoah Ave. Mrs. Kingery is a homemaker. She is the former Rebecca T. Pearcey.|

McCormack anniversary
John (Mack) and Evelyn H. McCormack celebrated their 50th anniversary on Saturday, July 13, 1996, by renewing their wedding vows at Grace Baptist Temple in Roanoke. The service was officiated by Dr. Daniel Mitchell, Pastor of the church. There was singing by Nancy Lee Mitchell and Kathy Basham. John is retired from Mrs. Giles Country Kitchen. Evelyn is the former Evelyn Hamilton and is retired from Medeco Security Locks. Helping them celebrate were many of their family and friends. John and Evelyn have one daughter, Bonnie Davis, of Salem, Va.; one grandson, Daniel Dowdy; and two great-grandchildren, Leslie Dowdy and Justin Dowdy, all of Salem, Va.

Danny and Vickie Percell will celebrate their 25th anniversary July 16, on Martha's Vineyard. They were married on that date in 1971. They are very proud parents of three wonderful daughters, Laurie, Jennifer and Anna.
Prillaman anniversary
Jim and Vivian Prillaman celebrated their 50th anniversary July 7, 1996, with a reception at the Red Hill Church of the Brethren, where they are members. It was hosted by their children and spouses. They are Linda Prillaman, York Beach, Maine; Brian and Kathy Prillaman, Santa Cruz, Bolivia; Donna and Harold Baker, Fairfax, Va.; Janice and Richard Rardin, Sandy Hook, Ct. Grandchildren are: Matthew, Jeffrey and Virginia Baker, Jessica and Eric Rardin and Sara Prillaman.
The couple was married July 6, 1946 in Antioch Church of the Brethren, Rocky Mount, Va. She is the former Vivian Bowman. Both are natives of Franklin County and have lived in Roanoke Co. for 47 years. Jim spent almost 4 years in the Navy during World War II, and is retired from the Veterans Administration. Vivian is a retired teacher and school Librarian.
Self anniversary
Connie G. and Kenneth E. Self celebrated their 26th anniversary on June 27, 1996. The celebration was held at the couples home with family. She's the former Connie Guthrie of Roanoke Co. He is employed by Roanoke City Building Maintenance, a nd she is President of Self & Associates Health & Financial Services
Yates anniversary
Garland and Virginia Yates celebrated their 50th anniversary on July 6, 1996. The reception was held at East Gate Church of the Nazarene, hosted by their children. They were married on July 11, 1946, in New Castle, Virginia. They have six sons, three daughters, eighteen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Garland works part time and Virginia is retired from Eli Lily.
