ALLMAN, Kenneth E., 80, of Radford, died Sunday, July 14, 1996, at his home. He is survived by his wife, Margie McNeil Allman; one son, Steve Allman, Albuquerque, N.M.; two daughters, Susan Allman, Albuquerque, N.M., Sally Allman, Washington, D.C.; stepchildren, Brenda Cochran, Radford, Eroletta Pias czyk, Dallas, Texas, Terry Spradlin, Riner; six stepgrandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel, Christiansburg, conducted by Rev. Warren H. Wattenbarger, with burial in the Organ Cave Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Greenbrier County, W.Va. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or Central United Methodist Church. ATKINSON, Elene T., 70, of Christiansburg, died Monday, July 15, 1996, at Lewis-Gale Hospital. Surviving are her husband, Elvin E. Atkinson; one son and daughter-in-law, James E. ``Eddie'' and Diana Atkinson; two grandsons, Drew and Jared Atkinson, all of Christiansburg. BROOKS, William A., (``Bill''), 74, of Vinton, passed away Monday, July 15, 1996, in a Richmond hospital. He was r etired from the regional office of veterans affairs in Roanoke, and was a member of Good News Baptist Church. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Roanoke and served with the Army/Air Force during World War II. Mr. Brooks was a M/SGT. in the Air Force Reserves in Roanoke from March 1947 to February 1966. He was also 1st SGT. in the Civilian Conservation Corps at Catawba. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Davis Brooks. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Lee and James K. Akamine of Richmond; one sister, Alma McGlothlin and husband, Sandy, of Roanoke; a sister-in-law, Frances Dove and husband, Linwood Dove of Lynchburg. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 1996, from the Lotz Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Irvin W. Sloan officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Lotz Vinton Chapel.

CARTER, Danese Fern 78, of Salem, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 15, 1996. She was born in Kansas City, Kansas and had been a Salem resident since 1960. She had worked as a Dispatcher with Willard Taxi Service and also was a member of the House of Prayer Church in Salem. She is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Thomas C. Carter and a son, Billy B. Carter. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, George T. and Macine Carter, Narrows, James and Della Carter, Roanoke; daughters and sons-in-laws, Betty and Bobby Reece, Salem, Nina L. and Benny Croy, Salem and Emma F. and Bryan Williams, Hampton; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 18, 1996, at 11:00 a.m. in the Broyles Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, W. VA. with the Rev. Gary Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Orchard Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday night at the John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home in Salem, from 7 to 9 p.m.

DEAN, Elwood B. Jr. 59, of 157 Kingsbury Ct., Nazareth, Pa., died July 13, 1996 at his residence. He was born November 21, 1936 at Staunton, Va., son of Elwood and Hazel (Wilberger) Dean. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Lightner Dean; three children, Christian and Jacob Dean, Westminster, Md. and Stephanie Dean, Nazareth, Pa.; two sisters, Shirley Dean, Stuarts Draft, and Bonnie Benson, Radford; one brother, John Dean, Staunton; and one granddaughter. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bear Funeral Home, Churchville. Burial in Green Hill Cemetery, Churchville.

DULANEY, Martha White, 76, of Pulaski, formerly of Poplar Hill, died Sunday, July 14, 1996 in Wytheville, Va. She grew up in the Back Creek Community of Pulaski County and lived most of her life on the Lone Oak Farm on Little Creek. She retired from Celanese Corporation, Narrows, after serving over 20 years as a secretary. She was an inactive member of the Eastern Star, and was a past treasurer of the Dublin United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theo Terry Dulaney, and several brothers and sisters. She was the devoted mother of two daughters, Ann Sparks, Roanoke, and Sandra Dulaney, Cincinnati. She was the beloved grandmother of five grandchildren, Beth Vaught, LaPlata, Md., Terry Sparks and Robert Sparks, both of Knoxville, Samantha Tabor, Indianapolis, and Shannon Tabor, Cincinnati. She leaves two great-grandchildren, Nikki and Matthew. She is survived by one sister, Ruby Williams, Pulaski. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dublin United Methodist Church, or the Agency on Aging. Funeral services will be held Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. from Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Frank Bauman officiating. Burial will follow Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. funeral time at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home.

HOOVER, Diane Szabat, 63, of 1833 S. Sycamore Street, Petersburg, died Sunday, July 14, 1996, at her home. She was a native of Pearisburg, a daughter of the late Mack and Alice Wilson Szabat; and the widow of Dr. Herbert C. Hoover. Mrs. Hoover was a 1950 graduate of Pearisburg High School and a 1952 RN graduate of the Pulaski School of Nursing. Surviving are a daughter, Lisa D. Hoover of Arcata, Calif; two sons, Mark A. Hoover of Pearisburg and Forrest C. Hoover of Petersburg; a son-in-law, Mark Andre of Arcata, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Rene M. Younce of Chesterfield; two grandchildren, Lauren N. Cumbia and Kevin M. Andrews Jr., both of Chesterfield; four sisters, Rosie Sadler of Staffordsville, Dorothy Bishop, Joyce Gautier, both of Pearisburg, and Pauline Baird of Mt. Airy, N.C. Graveside memorial services will be held Wednesday, July 17, 1996, at 11 a.m. at Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the home, 1833 S. LEWEY, Hallie Olena, 93, of Pulaski, died Sunday, July 14, 1996 in the Pulaski Health Care Center. Born in Eckman, W. Va. Feburary 20, 1903, she was the daughter of the late Hoge Monroe Lewey and Sally Ann Lewey. Ms. Hallie was a charter member of Memorial Baptist Church. She is survived by one brother, Carl W. Lewey, Roanoke; three sisters-in-law, Virginia S. Lewey, Roanoke, Margaret K. Lewey, Pulaski, Lois K. Lewey, Pulaski; five nieces; one nephew. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Patrick Coffey officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
