A Bluefield man has died from injuries suffered when a van drove over him Saturday afternoon on Interstate 81 near Draper in Pulaski County.
Tyrone Miller, 52, of Bluefield, died Sunday at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Miller's car had overheated and he was walking across the northbound lanes of I-81 to use a phone when the van hit him, according to state police. The driver of the van, Carolyn Green, 56, of Bowie, Md., was traveling at 65 mph when she saw Miller and hit her brakes. Her van skidded about 200 feet before it hit Miller, police said.
State police said the case will be reviewed by the Pulaski County commonwealth's attorney to see if charges should be filed against Green.
Miller and his sister were headed to their brother's birthday party in Woodbridge when Miller was hit.
