AKERS, James Michael, 35, of Delray Beach, Fla., died Tuesday, July 16, 1996, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He is surv ived by his parents, C. B. Akers of Boca Raton, Fla., Margaret B. Akers of Delray Beach, Fla.; his stepmother, Carol Akers of Boca Raton, Fla.; one sister, Susan Akers Collins of Delray Beach, Fla.; one brother, David Matthew Akers of Coconut Creek, Fla.; one uncle, Gene Akers of Welch, W.Va.; a special cousin, Linda Porter of Wytheville. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, July 20, 1996, at 2 p.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Wythe County with the Rev. Tommy Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence of Orville and Linda Porter at 640 Withers Road, Wytheville, at any time. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. FINNBLADE, Catherine Lyle, (``Katie""), of Timonium, Md., died Wednesday, July 17, 1996. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Charles Finnblade, and devoted daughter of Aaron K. III and Isabel Tryon Lyle. She was the dear sister of Philip T. and William A. Lyle; loving stepmother of Pamela Ruth Hurajt, Kim Bianchini and Richard Todd Finnblade; cherished niece of Elizabeth Lyle Becker. Born in Kimballton on February 13, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Bertha Brumfield Martin; the wife of the late Roscoe Lucas; and grandmother of the late Christopher Bryan Lucas. ROBINSON, Gail, 56, of Stannard Ave., Branford, Conn., wife of Richard Robinson, died Wednesday, July 17, 1996, at her home after a long illness. Mrs. Robinson was born on February 2, 1940 in Austinville, daughter of Bernice T. Thomas Ogle of Pearisburg, and the late Joseph H. Ogle Sr. She was a graduate of the Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse in Branford, New Haven, and Virginia. She was a former employee of Brookside Import Specialities in Branford. SAUER, Hugh A., 74, of Goodview, died Tuesday, July 16, 1996. He was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Vinton, Va. Mr. Sauer served 6 years in the U.S. Navy in both European and Pacific Theaters. He drove a tour bus in Alaska for 4 years, worked with Alaskan Native Service as a special assistant in Shageluk, Alaska, served in the Peace Corp. in St. Lucie in the Carribbean from 1990-1992. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. The family would like to thank the Roanoke Rehab Center and the Roanoke Memorial Hospice for their excellent care and support. He is survived by his wife, Bertha B. Sauer; six children, April Whitt (John), Hugh Sauer Jr. (Mary), Jennifer Meyers (James), Roberta Hillhouse (Michael), Audrey Wilson (Donald), Timothy Sauer (Susan); fourteen grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her dear and loving husband, Arthur Vile Sr.; her parents, Robert and Elmira Nippins; and a sister, Eleanore Helhowski. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law; and three sons and daughters-in-law, Charlotte and Edward Boellmann, Delran, N.J., Arthur and Betty Vile Jr., Woodbridge, Chester and Susan Vile, Woodstock, Ga., Sharon and Allen Rightenburg, Panama City, Fla., Stephen and Pamela Vile, Max Meadows, and Carol and Gary Jennings, Radford. WIMMER, Marie Alice, 77, of Blacksburg, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 1996, at the home of her sister, Daphne McNiel. She was a resident of Warm Hearth Village in Blacksburg for the past twelve years. Prior to moving there she was a life-long resident of Floyd County. She was a member of the Huffville United Methodist Church, and an affiliate member of Blacksburg United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Claude Wimmer; and a brother, Lamer Wimmer. Surviving are her sisters and brothers-in-law, Daphne McNiel, Dorothy and Lewis Meredith, Lois and Charlie Epperly, all of Christiansburg; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harless and L.Z. Wimmer, Salem, Winston and Irene Wimmer, Pilot, Wesley and Diana Wimmer, Check, Ray and Marie June Wimmer, Rachel Wimmer, all of Christiansburg; 14 nieces; and 8 nephews; and a number of great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 21, at the Huffville United Methodist Church, Floyd County, conducted by Rev. Herbert Hobbs and Rev. Richard H. Horne, with burial in the Huffville Cemetery. The body will be placed in the Huffville Church one hour prior to the service.
