Radford U. names development official

RADFORD - Radford University has named Jan G. Clarke director of planned giving.

Clarke was the director of the planned giving program at Averett College in Danville since 1987. Planned giving deals with contributions from estates, trusts, and bequests.

Polymer company signs venture pact

BLACKSBURG - Polymer Solutions Inc., in Virginia Tech's Corporate Research Center, has signed a joint venture agreement with Micromet Instruments Inc., of Newton Centre, Mass.

Polymer Solutions does materials testing of plastics, polymers, fabrics and film. Micromet makes the instruments used in some of that testing.

The agreement could mean increased business for Polymer Solutions, said company founder and president James Rancourt. The company has five employees, and Rancourt plans to hire at least one more this year.
