ALTICE, Robert Abraham, (""Abe"") , 81, of Rocky Mount, died Saturday, July 20, 1996. Mr. Altice was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 33 years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Margaret Hall Altice, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert R. and Louise Altice, Oakland Park, Kansas, James C. and Patricia Altice, Rocky Mount; three daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy A. and Raymond Daniel, Evonne A. and Jimmy Dillon, Vicky A. and J. T. Hodges, all of Rocky Mount, also surviving are thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Harvey L. and Ruby Altice, Martinsville; one sister, Essie A. Doss, Rocky Mount; one brother-in-law, James R. Pagans, of Vinton; two special friends, Odell Hammock and Ellie Suydan. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 1996 from the Lynch Funeral Chapel with Brother Sam Rogers, Rev. Ron Hill and Rev. William Doss officiating. CARICO, Howard Burkley, 80, of 310 Parkwood Drive, Galax, died Saturday, July 20, 1996, at his home. He was past Master of Oldtown Masonic Lodge #68 and past District Commander of VFW Post #7568. He is survived by his wife, Ruth B. Carico; nephews, Warren Vaught of Galax, Johnny Burris of Independence and Billy Burris of Greensboro, N.C.; nieces, Wand a Sturdivant and Hazel Santos of Galax, and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Sam and Ruby Burris of Wytheville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Chapel, Galax, with the Rev. Fred Jennings officiating. GOAD, Sandra Lee, 50, of Roanoke, died Sunday, July 21, 1996, at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles H. and Madeline B. Goad, and two brothers, Charles L. Goad and Arthur T. Goad. Surviving are five sisters and a brother-in-law, Josephine Welch, Doris Jean Goad, Sarah Frances Goad, Angeline Marie Goad, Joyce Ann and Everett L. GRAYSON, Gladys Baker Roberts, 84, of Radford, died Sunday, July 21,1996 at Radford Community Hospital. She is survived by a son and daughter in-law, James Jackson and Charlotte Q. Roberts, Jr., of Kenbridge and a son, Martin Reams (``Jigger"") Roberts, of Radford; stepdaughter, Betty Grayson Wright; five grandchildren, James, Richard, Carole, Emily and David Roberts; eight stepgrandchildren. HANNIFAN, Brian Thomas, 13, of Radford, passed away Saturday, July 20, 1996, in Radford Community Hospital. He was a student at Radford Intermediate School. Survivors include his father and mother, Tom and Alisa Hannifan of Radford; two brothers, Matthew Brett Hannifan and Samuel Drew Hannif an of Radford; his paternal grandfather, John T. Hannifan of Radford, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ruth Crawford of Eddington, Maine. He was born in Montgomery County on August 27, 1935 to the late John William and Helen Montana Spencer Heslep. Heslep, Colorado Springs, Colo.; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty H. and Kenneth R. Jordan, Christiansburg; five granddaughters and one grandson. HUMPHREYS, Roy Lee, 71, of Buena Vis ta, died Friday, July 19, 1996, at his residence. Born on September 8, 1924, in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Robert L. and Pauline Campbell Humphreys. He was U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired after 34 years at Burlington Industries as a weaver. Mr. Humphreys was a member of the Stone Church of the Brethren and American Legion Post #126, and was a former member of the Buena Vista Rescue Squad. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Humphreys. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Staton Humphreys; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry C. and Brenda Humphreys, and Patrick Arnold and Lynne Humphreys of Roanoke; grandchildren, Seth, Ian, Garth, Sarah and Ryan; two brothers, Bobby Humphries of Tampa, Fla., and Lester Humphries of Clinton, Iowa; one sister, Gladys Smith of Tampa, Fla., and a number of nieces and nephews. LUCAS, Pauline Mary, 94, of Pearisburg, died Saturday evening, July 20, 1996, at Riverview Nursing Home following a long illness. Born in Russellville, Tenn., on November 23, 1901, she was a daughter of the late Garrett Murphy and Mary Haun Lane. She was the wife of the late Marvin M. Lucas, and was a member of Pearisburg Presbyterian Church. Surviving are one daughter, Virginia Lucas Wood of Denver, Colo.; two grandsons, Alan Robertson of Heritage, Neb., and Gary Wood of Louisville, Ky., and four great-grandchildren. MOORE, James Edward, 54, of Buena Vista, died Sunday, July 21, 1996, at Stonewall Jackson Hospital. He was born May 5, 1942, in Buena Vista, son of the late Oliver R. Moore and Dollie Campbell Moore Henson. He was a member of the Stone Church of the Brethren. Mr. Moore was employed by the City of Buena Vista. He was a former member of the Buena Vista Fire Department. He is survived by three daughters, Amy Moore Caputa and her husband Michael of Greensboro, N.C., Elizabeth Moore Wells and her husband Troy of Raphine, and Kelly Marie Moore of Buena Vista; one son, James Oliver Moore of Buena Vista; four sisters, Delores Humphries, Patricia LaRue, Linda Deyton and Brenda Austin of Buena Vista; three brothers, Oliver Moore of Vesuvius, Kenneth Moore and Ralph Henson Jr. of Buena Vista; one grandson, Zachary S.
