The Consumer Price Index rose 0.1 percent in June compared with May. For the 12 months ended in June, the nation's measure of inflation was up 2.8 percent.
The June index of 156.7 points compared with 156.6 in May, 152.5 in June of last year and 148 in June 1994.
That means that a collection of goods and services that cost $148 two years ago and $152.50 a year ago would carry a price tag of $156.70 today.
Those figures use an average of prices between 1982 and 1984 as a base of 100.
