During the past year that I've spent writing this column, I've discovered that the New River Valley's seniors have a wealth of knowledge, experience and memories and that they are still very much in the business of creating more. I've profiled a school crossing guard who got his GED at age 65 and a senior athlete who, in her 80s, is still bringing home the gold. I had the privilege of talking with an actual graduate from the School of Hard Knocks, Harry Truman's double and a mother who turned soldier and served in World War II.
Soon I'll return to the advertising department where flexible hours will allow me to get a small business up and running. So this will be my last column.
It has indeed been a privilege to know you.
