EX-GOVERNOR JOINS NORFOLK SOUTHERN

Norfolk Southern Corp. said Tuesday it has elected former South Carolina Gov. Carroll A. Campbell Jr. to its board of directors. Campbell was governor from 1987-95 and served in the House of Representative from the state's 4th District from 1978-86.

David R. Goode, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Norfolk Southern, said Campbell was instrumental in attracting major international firms, which invested $22 billion in South Carolina and created 230,000 jobs.

Also, Norfolk Southern declared a regular quarterly common stock dividend of 56 cents per share, payable Sept. 10 to shareholders on Aug. 2. - Associated Press
