ADAMS, T. Ivey, Sr., 91, of Phenix City, Ala., passed away Tuesday, July 23, 1996, in a Phenix City hospital. Survivors include his wife, Phada Spivey Adams; one daughter, Beatrice A. Brown, Dallas, Texas, and one son, Rev. T. Ivey Adams Jr., Rocky Mount, Va.. Funeral services will be conducted in Phenix City and will be announced later.
BUCK, Ella Gingrich, (``Eloise''), 83, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, July 22, 1996, in the South Roanoke Nursing Home. She was born February 26, 1913, in Chambersburg, Pa., a daughter of the late William Earl G ingrich and Eva Mae Hull Gingrich. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence M. Buck Jr.; two sisters, Mary G. Bird and Miriam W. Williamson; and one brother, Ruelan Gingrich. She was a member of the Bedford Christian Church. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Buck Kern and husband, Roy, Roanoke; two brothers, Earl Gingrich, Akron, Ohio, Paul Gingrich, Baltimore, Md.; a grandson, Ken Kern and wife, Ramona; a granddaughter, Kathy Kern Keoughan and husband, Bob. Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, July 25, 1996, at 11 a.m. from the Greenwood Cemetery. Updike Funeral Home, Bedford, handling arrangements. CARTER, Beulah Clemons, 73, of Vinton, Bedford County, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 1996, at the residence of her daughter. She was born May 2, 1923, in Franklin County, a daughter of the late Willie Lee Clemons and Eva Whorley Clemons. Her husband was the late Grover Keith Carter. She was a member of the Flint Hill Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn C. and Ronnie Gordon, Vinton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Grover Lee Carter and Shirley, Vinton, Roy J. Carter and Nancy, Scruggs, James Kenneth Carter and Patsy, Moneta; two brothers, E. M. Clemons, Roanoke, Henry Clemons, Boones Mill; seven grandchildren, Cathy Kutz, Dennis Carter, Kelly Taylor, Debbie Whorley, Tina Jessie, Ron Gordon, Erin Gordon; five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 25, 1996, at 1 p.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery

CONREY, Elden E., Jr., (``Jack""), 87, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, July 23, 1996. He attended the University of Maryland and was a graduate of the University of Alabama. Mr . Conrey was a retired Lieutenant Colonel with the U.S. Army Reserves, and was also retired from Jones and Lockland Steel Corporation of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Fabricated Metals of Roanoke. He was a member of Hidden Valley Country Club and Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He was a veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Mary Mounfield Conrey; a daughter, Mrs. Alan (Barbara) Erickson, Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Mrs. John K. Bolte and Mrs. James Scott, both of Randallstown, Md.; a grandson, Jon Armstrong Erickson, and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be at Oakey's South Chapel at 10 a.m. Friday, July 26, 1996. The Rev. James C. Welsh will officiate. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. Friends may call at Oakey's South Chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

HODGE, Homer Henry, 89, of Roanoke, departed this life early Wednesday, July 24, 1996. He was born in the Vicker section of Montgomery County, and lived there until 1978. He moved to Salem and later to Roanoke. Mr. Hodge retired from Hercules Radford Army Ammunition Plant in 1968. He was a member of the Belview United Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by his parents, R. J. and Cora Stanger Hodge; sister, Mamie Swain; and brothers, Ellis and Finch Hodge. He is survived by his beloved wife, Juanita Branscom Hodge, Roanoke; three children, Georgene H. Hash, Dublin, Darla H. Gray and son-in-law, David T. Gray of Strongville, Ohio, Joseph W. Hodge and daughter-in-law, Mary Hodge, Roanoke; seven grandchildren, Cheryl H. Tilley and Noel D. Hash Jr., both of Dublin, Les D. Gray, Pompano Beach, Fla., Gary J. Gray, Strongville, Ohio, Andrew T. Gray, Canton, Ohio, Misty H. Bishop and Joseph W. Hodge II, both of Roanoke; four great-grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Tilley, Dublin, Emily Bishop, Roanoke, and Jackson Gray, Canton, Ohio; niece and nephew, Hilda H. Helms and Robert F. Hodge, Blacksburg. The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday from the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel in Christiansburg, conducted by the Rev . Mitchell Emswiler with interment in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. MARTIN, Mary Alice Hawks, 71, of Marietta, Ga., formerly of Richmond, died Friday, July 19, 1996. A native of Lambsburg, Mrs. Martin lived in Marietta 21 years. She was a graduate of Radford College and a member of Sandy Springs Christian Church, and the Canterbury Golf Club. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Edward L. Martin Sr.; daughter, Beth Ranson of Danville; three sons, Edward L. Martin Jr., Frank Martin and Neale Martin, all of Marietta; sister, Nancy Helton of Galax; three brothers, Tom Hawks of Hillsville, and Frank and John Hawks, both of Lambsburg; nine grandchildren; nieces and nephews. OVERSTREET, Ollie Thurman, 92, of 5214 Woodbury Street NW, Roanoke, died Tuesday, July 23, 1996 in a Salem Hospital. He was a charter member of Shenandoah Baptist Church. Mr. Overstreet previously worked at American Viscose and later retired as a Barber from the V.A. Regional Medical Center, Salem. He was predeceased by his wife, Vaughnie Mitchell Overstreet; his father and mother, Alonza and Hettie Howell Overstreet; brothers, Herbert, Frank, and Aubrey Overstreet; brothers-in-law, Robert, Talmage, and Hammett Mitchell. Surviving are sister and brother-in-law, Letha and Clarence Dellis; sister, Una Dellis, both of Huddleston; a brother, Moorman B. Overstreet, Roanoke; his faithful brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wallace and Margaret Mitchell, Roanoke; and sisters-in-law, Mary S. Mitchell and Frances Mitchell, both of Roanoke, and Frances Overstreet Huddleston; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 26, 1996 from Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. Albin Crutchfield and the Rev. Robert Alderman officiatating. WAGONER, Lilly Susie, 86, of Bassett, died Tuesday, July 23, 1996. Born January 19, 1910, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Manirvie Rakes Midkiff. She was preceded i n death by her husband, General Jackson Wagoner; and son, Lassie Ray Wagoner. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Lacy Harris of Bassett; one sister, Macie Gillispie of Endicott; one brother, Freddie Midkiff of Endicott; special niece, Lucille Midkiff Schulte of Kernersville, N.C.; one granddaughter, Marie (Reesie) Martin of Bassett; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Blake Martin of Bassett.
