Optical Cable gets contracts

Optical Cable Corp. says the company has recently been awarded three federal government projects worth $1.25 million.

Company President Robert Kopstein declined to reveal the specific names of the agencies receiving the cable but said they were not buying the company's military-grade product. The cable will be used for improvements to existing facilities, he said.

Optical Cable, which employs 110 people in the Valleypointe business park in Northwest Roanoke County, makes fiber-optic cable for computer and telecommunications networks.
