CAVE SPRING TEAM HEADS TO STATE TOURNEY

The Little League All Star Team for 12-year-olds representing the Cave Spring American Baseball League advanced to state-level competition after winning the District 12 round robin tournament with a 5-0 record. Cave Spring pitchers threw three no-hitters, giving up just three runs on four hits with a team ERA of 0.48. Tom Hagen and Adam Trombower each pitched no-hit games, while Jake Landis and Jeremy White combined for the third.

In the five-game tournament, Cave Spring scored 46 runs, had 38 hits, including 17 doubles and four home runs, and accumulated a team batting average of .352.

The state Little League Tournament, held in Portsmouth, begins Saturday.
