Ron Bradley returned from two days of interviews for the vacant University of Maine men's basketball coaching job and said even though he has not been offered the job, the trip left him with plenty to think about.
Bradley, the Radford University coach, said the first priority in his deliberations will be his family.
``They come first,'' he said. ``Second, I have a lot of loyalty to the kids in my program. We've got 14 good people and I have to consider them.''
Maine will be interviewing three more candidates. Bradley said school officials indicated they would like to make a decision by Aug. 5.
Bradley said he intends to spend the next few days considering his situation.
``It's an interesting situation,'' he said. ``... Personally, It's a little more lucrative job than the one at Radford, a little higher salary, a better camp situation, a country club membership and my children's tuition [to Maine] would be free. So it's a little better deal.''
On the other hand, he said there was unfinished business at Radford. When he took over as coach at Radford, he said that his goal was for the Highlanders to make it to the NCAA Tournament and make a mark there. That has yet to be accomplished.
Bradley became involved with the Maine job when the school's athletic director, Suzanne Tyler, asked him to apply. Bradley and Tyler were colleagues at the University of Maryland.
