PULASKI MAN, 22, HELD IN CARJACKING

Police said a Pulaski man confessed to officers late Wednesday after he was arrested on a charge of carjacking in connection with an incident that occurred early Monday.

Kevin Dwayne Scott, 22, also was wanted in Giles County on outstanding warrants from May for grand larceny and breaking-and-entering charges, according to the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office.

Capt. Mike Alderman said Scott admitted he took a 19-year-old woman's car about 12:20 a.m. Monday.

The woman told police that a man got in her car while she was stopped at Belspring and Peppers Ferry roads. She said the man grabbed her neck and forced her to drive around the area, later demanding money.

The woman escaped about 20 minutes later after the man took over driving the car and had stopped, again, at Belspring and Peppers Ferry roads.

The woman was not injured during the carjacking, but the man drove away with her father's car and later wrecked it in Dublin when a police officer there attempted to pull over the car.

The Dublin officer attempted to stop the driver for reckless driving, but the driver sped off and later hit a fire hydrant on Third Street.

Alderman said that, based on the woman's description of the carjacker and interviews with other people, the investigation led to Scott. Police arrested Scott, took his picture, and the woman picked Scott's image from among nine photographs.

Scott is being held in the Pulaski County Jail without bond. The carjacking charge is a felony that carries a maximum punishment of life in prison.
