ALLIANCE TO STUDY LONG-TERM GOALS

The New River Valley Economic Development Alliance will hold a strategic planning session from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on the New River Community College campus.

The Virginia Economic Partnership, headed by Wayne Sterling, will also be involved. Bob Gibson, its director of national marketing, will speak during the morning session.

Alliance President Danny Hardy said he is looking forward to having the New River Valley's government and business leaders sit down and develop a workable economic development plan for the alliance.

Stuart Gilbert, the alliance's new executive director, has conducted sessions of this kind in two other regions elsewhere in the country. Those sessions proved to be the foundation for successful economic development efforts, Hardy said.

"It is absolutely critical that we get a great turnout from our investors, our government and our civic community leaders," Gilbert said. "We will be packing an incredible amount of information into one single day, so every minute will be worthwhile."
