'DAWGS FALL 2-1 ON ROAD

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. - The Roanoke RiverDawgs opened their Southern trip with a loss Friday night, falling 2-1 to the Florida Strikers in a United Systems of Independent Soccer Leagues game.

Roanoke's only goal came at the 28-minute mark when former Radford University star Ian Spooner scored off an assist from Jeff Kramer. The RiverDawgs, who have clinched a spot in the USISL playoffs, go further south to face the Miami Tango at 2 p.m. today.

Roanoke (8-4) and champions of the USISL's Eastern Conference North Division, will be home for a playoff game in early August at Victory Stadium. |- Staff report
