ANGLE, Clarence H., 88, of Roanoke, died Saturday, July 27, 1996. He was retired from the U. S. Postal Service and was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps. Mr. Angle was a member of Lakeland Lodge #190 A.F. & A.M., Webber Hi Twelve, Kazim Temple of Shrine and Carrie Lee Chapter of O.E.S. He was a long-time member of Villa Heights Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Connie Angle; sons and daughters-in-law, Swanson and Karen Angle, St. Louis, Mo., Gene and Cindy Angle, Nashville, Tenn.; sisters, Bea Anderson and Iva Whitenack, both of Roanoke; brother, Woody Angle, Tucker, Ga.; grandchildren, Brian Angle, Robert Angle, Jill Angle, Ken Angle; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at Oakey's South Chapel 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 1996, with the Rev. Harold Lewis and the Rev. J. Landon Maddex officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. BABER, Lucy Harrison Miller, of 501 VES Road, Lynchburg, died Saturday, July 27, 1996, in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the widow of Charles George Baber. She is survived by a son, Edgar Miller (``Ned"") Baber and his wife Cary of Roanoke; a daughter, Jane Baber White and her husband Kenneth of Lynchburg; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John's Episcopal Church in Lynchburg. Diuguid Rivermont Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
BINGLER, Lillie Mae, 86, of Lexington, died Sunday, July 28, 1996 in the Augusta Medical Center. Mrs. Bingler was b orn October 18,1909 in Albemarle, Va., a daughter of the late Benjamin Durham and Maude Brooks Durham. She was a member of the Lauderdale A.R.P. Church and a former teacher of the Bible School. Mrs. Bingler was the widow of Charles Eugene Bingler and was preceded in death by her two children. Surviving are several grandchildren, Carolyn McLaughlin, Waynesboro, Sharon Noel, Lexington, Brenda Childress, Mechanicsville, Md., Timmy Bingler, Lexington, Tony Bingler, Raphine, Dorothea Hatcher, Natural Bridge; 19 great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren. Also a brother and sister in Charlottesville, Va. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31,1996 at the Harrison Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Zeb Carson Williams officiating. BLACKWELL, Doris Prillaman, 74, of Rocky Mount, died Saturday, July 27, 1996. Born September 28, 1921, she was a daughter of the late John M. and Nannie Sue Clark Prillaman. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Andrew Blackwell, brother, Jack Prillaman, sister, Dorothy Jane Prillaman and great-grandson, Justin Thomas Blackwell. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Howard Webb of Bassett; four sons and daughters-in-law, Fred W. and Elizabeth Blackwell, Thomas and Jean Blackwell, Billy T. and Anita Blackwell, Kenneth and Cindy Blackwell, all of Rocky Mount; four sisters, Louella Armstrong of Vernon, Fla., Lucy Rakes of Galax, Lolene Moore, Mollie Dalton, both of Bassett; five brothers, Buren Prillaman of Martinsville, Dewey Prillaman of Collinsville, John J. Prillaman, Billy Prillaman, both of Bassett, Wayne Prillaman of Charlotte, N.C.; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. ETTER, Kathryn P., 88, of Rural Retreat, died Saturda y, July 27, 1996 in the Evansham Manor in Wytheville. She was born January 26, 1908 in Wythe County, the daughter of the late Charles M. and Ellen Phillippi Etter. Kathryn was a retired teacher and librarian with the Wythe County School System, and was a graduate of William & Mary University, where she received her Master's Degree. She is survived by a niece, Kaye M. Lynn, Rt. 4, Wytheville; a nephew, James Douglas Hodge, Rural Retreat; and several cousins also survive. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, July 29,1996, at Mountain View Cemetery in Rural Retreat, with Pastor Larry M. Bollinger officiating. The family requests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Grace Lutheran Church Choir, the Kathryn Etter Room-Library at Rural Retreat High School, or the Rural Retreat Music Club - Kathryn Etter Scholarship Fund. Born July 27, 1927 in Nelson County, he was the son of th e late Willie H. and Ettie Layton Fitzgerald. He is survived by three daughters, Donna F. Thomas and Cheryl F. Moore, both of Natural Bridge Station, and Linda F. Bryson of Buena Vista; a son, David Lee Fitzgerald, Jr. of Lexington; three sisters, Irene Lawhorne and Geraldine Grant, both of Buena Vista and Joyce Allen of Vesuvius; five brothers, Robert L. Fitzgerald and Willie H. Fitzgerald, both of Buena Vista, Samuel W. Fitzgerald and Dennis C. Fitzgerald of Pennsylvania and Sherman H. Fitzgerald of Oklahoma; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 1996, at the Lomax Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. She was born June 6, 1927, in Dublin, the daughter of the late Harve Andrew Jackson Akers and Madeline Lillian Gilliam Akers. She also was preceded in death by three sisters, Catherine Sipple, Mary Flores and Mae Stephenson, and a brother, Harve Andrew Akers Jr. She was a retired employee of the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. Surviving are one daughter, Conchita H. Robinson of Dublin; one grandson, Todd S. Robinson of Dublin; two sisters, Ellen A. Reed of Christiansburg and Betty A. Simmons of Hardy, and three brothers, M. Leroy Akers of Upper Darby, Pa., David E. Akers of Willingboro, N.J., and Franklin R. Akers of Christiansburg. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Hodges and Mary Pendleton, and a brother, Wilson Pendleton. A loving husband of 44 years, he is survived by his wife, Melva Brown Pendleton; one son, Marque Pendleton of Rocky Mount; three sisters, Hilda Guilliams of Callaway, Maude Bolling of Roanoke and Carol Ann Ferguson of Glade Hill; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard and Betty Pendleton of Rocky Mount, Wilson and Hazel Pendleton of Callaway and Frank Pendleton of Roanoke; 17 nieces and nephews, and special friends, Paul Guilliams, Carter Agee, Herman Walker and Annette Hoge.
