A manufacturer of continuous miner machines and other devices for low-seam coal mining will seek 30 to 40 more employees in the next few months.
Fairchild International Inc., which has about 90 employees, will need the additional employees "just to support our business backlog," said Robert Shireman, vice president of finance.
He said Fairchild is seeking qualified machinists, welders "and people who can read blueprints and assemble machine." Shireman mentioned the employment expansion at Monday's committee meeting in Radford of the Commission on the Future of Southwest Virginia. The company has been in Giles County since 1986.
