caused $1,000 to $3,000 damage to the First Union bank building at

616 Ninth St. in Southeast Roanoke. Roanoke District Fire Chief

Thomas Tyree said firefighters responded to a call about 2:15 p.m.

They had the fire under control in about two minutes. Tyree said he

believes the blaze was caused by combustible materials that were

located next to a water heater.
