RHODA B. WOODSON has been elected president of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Blue Ridge Post No.484 for 1996-97.
Other officers elected are Renva Wilson, senior vice president; Virginia Power, junior vice president; Marguerite Wilkes, chaplain; India Harris, guard; Ola Ahortt, conductress; and Ruth D. McGlothlin, secretary and treasurer.
JERRY DEGRAFF of Hardy was one of 700 Lions Club members from around the world to be elected a district governor during the 79th Lions Clubs International Convention in Montreal.
The five-day seminar focused on leadership and effective communication. Speakers included Gen. Norman H. Schwartzkopf and former President Jimmy Carter.
The Lions' primary service activity has been to serve the blind and visually impaired since 1925.
FAMILY SERVICE OF ROANOKE VALLEY has elected Lucas A. Snipes chairman of the board. Other new officers are Beverly B. Lambert, first vice chairwoman; Daniel G. Oakey, second vice chairman; Kirk A. Ludwig, treasurer; Thomas Honer, secretary; and James C. Sears, chairman-elect.
New board members are: Shirley Brand, Beverly T. Fitzpatrick Jr., Vera Johnson, Bill Skeen, John Sylvester-Johnson and Jack Watts.
Family Service of Roanoke Valley is a nonprofit organization that provides counseling, home care and help to victims of domestic violence.
THE CLEAN VALLEY COUNCIL has elected officers for the 1996-97 year. Serving a second term as president is Ed Callis. Other officers are Nancy Bailey, vice president, and Owen M. Grogan Jr., secretary/treasurer. The board's new directors, elected to two-year terms, are Andrew Glenn Jr., William Harris III, Ann Weaver and Sandy Murray.
J. TYLER PUGH, senior vice president and branch manager of Wheat First Butcher Singer, was recently installed as president of the Rotary Club of Roanoke.

THE ACHIEVEMENT CENTER has appointed the following people to its board of directors: Paul Keyser, Dr. Michael Chiglinsky and Ellis Gutshall.
ALFRED C. ANDERSON, Roanoke County treasurer, has been appointed by Gov. George Allen to the Board of Directors of the Virginia Recreational Facilities Authority.
The authority provides recreational attractions for Western Virginia and promotes public awareness of the role of Virginia in opening the American West in the 19th century.
