The man whose body was found in a Kirk Avenue parking lot Monday night has not yet been identified.
Roanoke police said a preliminary report from the medical examiner's office indicates the man jumped from a parking garage on Church Avenue. A man on his way home from work discovered the body about 10:30 p.m.
The man is described as a white male with olive skin, 20 to 30 years old, 6 feet tall, 170 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Police can't be sure of his age, because he suffered severe facial injuries.
He was wearing a light-colored dress shirt, dark green dress pants and black wing-tip shoes. He had a black, 4-inch pocket knife in his pocket. Anyone with information about this man is asked to call police at 981-2572, or, after 5 p.m., 981-2212.
Police also reported a purse snatching Tuesday night in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart on Franklin Road.
Police said a Southwest Roanoke woman was walking to her car about 11:50 p.m. when a teen-age boy grabbed her purse and ran toward a nearby gas station. The boy did not say anything to the woman. The purse contained $52.
