PARKWAY ASSOCIATION TO MEET IN NELSON

For the first time in its 50-year history, the Blue Ridge Parkway Association will meet in Nelson County.

The parkway, which begins in and traverses 30 miles of Nelson County, crosses 470 miles of Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee.

The organization was formed after the parkway's completion with a mission to promote travel and enjoyment of the scenic road, said Frankee Love, tourism director for Nelson County.

Love said the association is inviting the public to the festivities Aug. 27-28.

The first event is a wine and cheese reception at the Moss Museum.
