GOING, GOING ...

LENGTH: Short : 24 lines
ILLUSTRATION: PHOTO: At the rate workers are going, there soon will be

little trace of the former Lowe's building on North Franklin Street.

In its place, Christiansburg will build its long-awaited recreation

center. The demolition of the building, whose roof caved in after a

January blizzard, is scheduled to be completed by Aug. 15.

Christiansburg salvaged siding and light fixtures from the building

before Alan L. Amos Inc. of Roanoke began the demolition. The siding

from the building will be used for equipment sheds at the town's

public works facility. The demolition cost is $25,500.

Christiansburg will open bids on the new building Aug. 20. The

recreation center could be completed within a year. color
