Brush Mountain fair
The deadline for application to the Brush Mountain Arts and Crafts Fair is Dec. 15. The juried show will be held April 4-6 at Rector Fieldhouse, Virginia Tech, with more than 100 artists and artisans. MADD meeting

Montgomery jamboree
Montgomery County Parks & Recreation is in the process of starting a ``Mountain Music Jamboree'' on Saturday nights, 7-11, at the organization's park on U.S. 460 between Christiansburg and Blacksburg.
Bands, soloists, banjo and fiddle players and old time music performers who are interested in performing for a nominal fee at the weekly event should call 382-6879. Admission will be charged.
Cork & Curtain gala
Cork & Curtain II, Mill Mountain Theatre's wine auction and gala, will take place Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at Hotel Roanoke. The event will feature a wine tasting with hors d'oeuvres, music, a seated dinner and live and silent auctions of wines and other items. SPCA fund-raiser

Walk for the Cure
The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation Walk for the Cure, a 10K event, will be held Sept. 29 beginning at 10 a.m. in Roanoke Market Square. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. An ``After Walk Lunch'' will be served at Crestar Plaza. Walkers turning in $50 or more in pledges will receive a T-shirt.
