State police arrested a former Christiansburg resident last week in Norfolk on a fugitive warrant in connection with the 1995 rapes of two local teen-agers.
Murrell W. Martin Jr., 52, has been charged with two counts each of rape, sodomy and inanimate object sexual penetration, according to Christiansburg police Lt. Gary Brumfield.
Brumfield said Martin's arrest came as the result of an investigation by Investigator T.E. Lawson, who obtained warrants in April. State police arrested Martin July 25.
Martin is being held without bond in the Roanoke City Jail. Brumfield said he faces similar charges in Roanoke and Montgomery County.
