A 23-year-old Wytheville man died Sunday night after he drove his motorcycle into a pickup truck just north of town, according to state police.
Timmy Lee Blessing was driving on Virginia 52 when he collided with a pickup truck pulling out of the Evansham Swim and Racquet Club's driveway, state police said.
Police would not release an estimate on how fast Blessing was driving, but the posted speed limit is 55 mph.
Todd Blessing said his brother enjoyed hunting deer, fishing and lifting weights.
Timmy Blessing and his identical twin, Terry, had starred on the varsity football team at Rural Retreat High School, from which they graduated in 1990. Both were ranked in Timesland polls for rushing.
The accident occurred about 9 p.m.
Blessing died about an hour later at Wythe County Community Hospital.
